the fukked up thing about it is, in my experience at least, the best girls are the ones that are religious. i mean they'll still do their thing, but its still a big enough issue for them to be concerned about where YOUR faith is and if it you're like the majority of this thread :whoa: like @VictorVonDoom's link. you can have ALL the other right things going for you, but that church shyt is a killer. i've lost on some good catches :bryan:

Most of you guys are more then just simple atheists that don't believe in god. You guys are anti god& religion.

supposedly  truth be told, its a lot like when parents come to school and the teacher/principal try to tell them all the bad shyt their kid has been doing and they get all hyper-defensive cause there's just NO WAY they could do that. clearly you're just "anti-ronzell"

That's one thing I've never completely understood.

Even in my own family, the women are much more religious. My sister/mother/grandmother/etc are all fairly religious while most of the men in my family don't care that much for it and only go to church if dragged. I've never understood why women in general, but especially black women, are on average so much more into religion than men. Especially considering most major religions could be considered fairly patriarchal.

I guess maybe it's appealing on an emotional level. :yeshrug:

Not at all. Women look to religion to find a man.

No, it's not. It's just that the vast majority of the men you may be attracted to, who are socially aware, who aren't swagless, who may have a decent career - will more than likely be religious.

But that sh1t doesn't matter anyway. My girl is an atheist (back n forth between that and agnostic)... and kinda talks sh1t when something comes up; but we respect each other as people.

I fell out laughing at your first paragraph. The men and women I met in life that fit the criteria you just stated are atheists! Every male Christian I know are huge hypocrites

I'm not atheist. Due to the nature of what I do and who I'm usually around.. I have mostly agnostic friends and a few atheist associates. Doesn't really matter, cuz there really aren't too many woman I find attractive or interesting that I can't relate to on some level... between 06-fall 11' hit soo many atheist it's kinda gross.. but religion isn't y most people date so my beliefs only come up if I want them to.

Anyway, I'm not Christian, but you may be generalizing a bit. And I guess we're gonna get on here and pretend that there isn't an overabundance of lame atheist?

My close fam pretty much knows where I stand. My grandfather/grandmother are devoutly religious, but also very liberal and pluralist. They don't believe their faith is the only way, and they don't preach to anyone. My mother's generation is in between. Sometimes she says religious things, other times she's a harsh critic of religion. I think she sways between belief and disbelief herself, though I guess you could call her a "spiritual" person. I think it was having a more liberal family that allowed me to question things and end up where I am.

You're no better off in the real world.

the dating pool for me has been a Sahara status.
as far as my fam. my moms think I'm going to come around.
but if I come out, my family is going to give me so much flack.
anytime god comes up, I just stay silent or duck any questions they toss me about going back to church. @yeahisaidit keep your head up.

anyway, I was saying that Christians shouldn't be generalized. I know you lames, live in this alternative universe- but you can't question or attack me for speaking on reality.

I disagree. Most of the people I spend my time around aren't particularly religious, if at all, but even that's not the point. Critical thinking makes anyone better off, and you don't get that in a rigidly religious upbringing.

This goes to show everyone want to belong to something. Even societies outcasts who have been cut off from God for reasons only choice people in their lives understand.

Critical thinking about what? People who dont believe in God cant think critically? Are you serious right now? What topics of conversation are people who believe in God not able to think critically about, that matter in your mind?

That's not what I said. I said that a rigidly religious upbringing doesn't encourage critical thinking, which is true. My fam was ok with me reading about various religions and non-religious philosophies. They didn't try to shelter me or hide ideas from me, or try and keep me inside a set comfort zone. Rigidly religious homes, like those some of my friends grew up in, didn't allow that. Luckily, some will develop the thinking skills anyway, but many don't, and lose the opportunities to do so during some very formative years.

That nicca like atheist to the 25th power lol. He the type of nicca walk in a church and explode lol. Nicca has hasnt had a DATE or a JOB since Clinton was in office smh

REAL TALK... There are hardly any religious people at any of my last three places of employment... I got these people's number. You can get online and talk a certain way, do certain things.. but reality is ...

1. Being an atheist in the black community is whatever And most aren't Oppressed or Shunned by their families. We have bigger issues. My lil bro is atheist, I'm very religious (now). I support everything he does and says and wish him the best. My other brother is gay, my other one is basically smashes hoes n gets money. All in the same love for each other.

2. you aren't automatically ignorant, judgmental, and crazy just because you're a Christian.

3. There are some very lame loser black atheist that give the rest a bad name, but whatever, because all belief systems are generalized.

You're right, I may be generalizing a bit. For that I apologize. It is just my experience so far.
