About 8 days. I`m going with my girl so I`m good on eating :francis:

I`m going to be staying right on the golden mile I think (I believe I can walk to it from the hotel because the hotel is on the beach). I was looking at cribs in Durban and told my girl I wouldn't mind living there (or the other main SA cities), the only thing that would suck is still having to pay US taxes if I took a gig with one of the major tech companies in SA.
Unless you're going with a combo of prime Beyoncé, prime Janet, and prime Sade, you're gonna want to kill yourself for bringing her. GO to Bassline or this spot with a revolving restaurant. Pretty dope spot in Durbs. Uhmalanga Rocks has this spot that serves the best lobster I've ever had but they will tax you

IF you plan on copping a crib be prepared to pay in dollars, euros or pounds. And huge payments up front (up to half the asking price)

I went out there for the Essence fest last year so that's what I did most of the time, but there's a lot of shyt to do out there.
- mabhida stadium tour (this is real dope especially if you are a soccer head. this was one of the stadiums used in world cup 2010) and ride the skycar for dope views at the top
- safari (there's hundreds of tour companies who do it)
- walk the golden mile (this was actually one of my favorite things i did. it's like a big ass boardwalk right on the beachfront. I would check this out on a Saturday/sunday. everybody is out then just enjoying the beach)/ get some grub at afro's chicken along the way
- Ushaka Marine World (world class aquarium - but if you go during their spring break, it's a big ass pool party - :banderas:)
- check out Umhlanga which is an touristy area but still cool to see
- never got a chance to check it out but when I go back I'm a hit up St. Lucia which is supposed to be a dope beach town a few hours away
- for night life it's mostly Florida road. All I'm a tell you is go to Cubana early (8 or 9p) on a fri/sat night. tell'em you gonna get the works (food, drink, & hookah) so they give you a nice table up front. breh you will eat. I miss that place:mjcry:
- they also got a casino over there.

breh shyt is endless for real. how long you gonna be there?

My man you might of just sold me on Durban. I've only been to Capetown and Joburg but Durban sounds dope. Were you alone?

how hard is it to get financing there as a foreigner? if you put 50% down you can finance the rest? the articles I read made it seem like if you a foreigner it's either all cash or nothing

Oh I`m not sure, I figured you had to pay taxes as long as you were a US citizen.

It was me and 2 of my boys. one was the scared, never been out the country, type. the other went to CAU so he always love to compare every place we visit to ATL. said he thought he'd never see a place that got more ass walkin around than Atlanta :lolbron:. both thoroughly enjoyed themselves and already getting ready to make plans to go back. always seems to be the most slept on city out of the 3. it really is a different vibe from both those cities. if I'm tryin to party hard or do business I think it's Joburg. but if I want lifestyle I'm taking Durban all day. IMO you would really be doing yourself a disservice if you don't visit Durban at least once. get a ticket and go. plus if you still good on your Portuguese you can catch that quick 1 hour flight to Maputo :myman:

from my observations so far I think Joburg = NYC, Cape town = LA, Durban = lowkey Miami @Lucky_Lefty what you think? :patrice:

Yep. Some areas it's 60%. The first 90k exemption went out the window in 2014 when they passed a law banning commercial and real estate property to be purchased by outsiders. Then MNCs started bytchig and complaining then they relaxed the standards a tad bit. I found a dude who had this bangin ass spot right on Uhmalanga Rocks. Wanted $400k off top. I mean you take two steps out the back and you on the beach. :to:

Durban does remind me of Miami cause of the Mile.

so foreigners CANT buy property? And what do you mean the 90k thing went out the window? So a US citizen working for a US corporation in SA gets hit twice for taxes?

You can, you just have to put down more in order to. 60% at the last time I checked but I was looking at a crib in Sandton suburb.

Misunderstood what you were saying. Thought you were looking at getting a gig with a SA company. No, you'll only report what you earn a file taxes with the IRS as long as it's over 10k

Gotcha. If I worked with a SA company I assume I would pay taxes in SA and then for the US I can file for that tax exemption or something?
