Maybe I'm tripping but, according to that chart, Europe's also ahead but no one really mentions that, everyone's just focused on getting to first place like they don't have to get in second or third place first. Like there some magic formula that's going to get Americans out of 20th and put them in the running for first. It's laughable what motivates people to educate themselves or what motivates people to take education seriously; the threat of being outsmarted.

Point blank, our media teaches people that it cool to be dumb. Being smart gets you no respect in America.

It's a cultural thing. @The_Sheff hit the nail on the head with his analysis. I'll like to add that Asians seriously lack creativity, though. We're still the Mecca of Influence. They can innovate or knockoff anything we do but do you think those Asians couple have made iMac or iPhone, popular music (hip-hop and r&b is currently pop music), and appliances? Doubt it. Long as America doesn't lose it's creative and influence then we'll be fine. America will always dumb fukks. Look at the fast food workers crabbing about $15/hr. :snoop:

My dad saw this trend coming years ago and said "If you aren't at least in the advanced program, you won't match the international kids." Be in the advanced programs in elementary and middle school. Do the advanced, AP or IB programs in high school. Learn a few languages and study abroad in college. Time to step up your game.

Don't forget to read in your spare time.

One thing I love about this country is the abundance of libraries.

The thing is, teachers make reading into a chore and take the passion out of it. They make it boring. We need teachers to feel excited to teach and make anyone understand the subject.

Can you really judge creativity though? To be honest, I think that's the laziest reasoning I've ever heard in my life. We're more creative, lol. Your creativity is wasted if it isn't used to solve actual problems like how Americans are behind Europe and Asia in terms of academics.

Creativity is a human trait. Education without expression of the individual leads to :violent: of schools. Extreme mental stress leads to all kinds of dysfunctions.

That's a part of creativity. Finding a problem and solving it. You're thinking of Art Basel or something. Look at how America, much younger than most of the world, has influenced so much. Creativity! Creativity isn't taught or can be measured but it is tangible. Those intelligent Asians more than likely end up in the West because they do not know what to do with their intelligence. Americans do. Thus our universities are still the world standard.

I can't judge whether Asians are less creative than Americans or not. If you look at Japanese culture, they're on to different shyt over there. And I've met a lot of Asian dudes who are the most creative people I've ever met.

One thing we have going for us in the U.S. is that creative people from around the world still want to come here and ply their trade. Just the mere fact that a lot of the world's currency is invested in the U.S. gives us an advantage. Does that make the U.S. more creative? Not really sure. It does make the U.S. a better platform for creative people to succeed.

America made amends with Japan and shared knowledge with them after WWII. That's how they got to where they are now. Creativity and innovation didn't just pop up in their minds.

Tell me, what do Americans do with their creativity? You mentioned iPods iPhones clothes styles and the like, how does this enhance or strengthen someone's life? Most of the creativity is directed at entertaining one's self rather than enhancing or improving one conditions. Not to mention, most of these creative enterprises arise out of a desire to make money rather than improve one's state. While making money can improve one's state, there isn't always money to be made in solving really problems.

It's a waste. And all the people that choose to come here do it because of the opportunity to increase their financial status and diversify themselves as to their experience, not because they feel America is the best. The only people talking about how America is so great is Americans.

I wouldn't put too much stock in it.

We lead the world in innovation and creativity. Those asian countries habe a HUGE private tutoring market. They won't let you get an education if you have a learning disability. They are already starting off on a good foot. Also they did a scientific profeciency test and despite the fact that they study twice as much, their scientific proficiency was the same. Thats horribly inefficient.
