All it would have taken was for the two white stars of the show to stand with the two Asians to get them fairly compensated. Guess they aren't cool with them like that.
TV shows are not selling like that anymore and those contracts to sell episodes were already signed years ago. CBS didn't really need the those 2 as much as you would think. The main dude been threatening to leave the last few years also. The show is on its last legs...They didn't need Seinfeld leverage - this show (at least very recently) prints money.
At one point it was being sold to cable for re-runs at $5 mill per episode and making an additional $2.5 mill per episode in foreign sales. That's the only reason it's still around. They moved it to Friday because nobody really watches it, but it prints money via cable and especially internationally.
If they were really only 10-15% away from the right number for the two Asian actors, solidarity probably woulda got it for them.
So with that said, the only thing that makes sense is the two leads didn't want them to get paid the same since they are technically the "leads"
The Big 3 stars on The Big Bang Theory negotiated in solidarity with the other cast members to make sure the Indian dude , Jewish guy, Big Titty blond and Blossom all got bumps in pay.But Seinfeld was really an ensemble piece with each co stars outshining him and carrying the show. He was the glue and straight guy but they did all the heavy lifting and he knew it. This is different, I don't watch the show but I bet their roles weren't to the level that made them indispensable. That's when you need to recognize whether you have any leverage at the negotiation table. If theirs was just we bring colour to the cast and we deserve equal pay
Asian women tend to hold it together until they hit like late 50s-60 and then its like somebody beat them in the face with a sledgehammer. And on another note, how is Grace Park 43 but still looks around 30?
O'hana dont mean shyt to these fools in real life...
Battlestar Galatica and Lost respectivelyGrace park and Daniel dae Kim is not D list both of them was on big hit shows before they joined Hawaii 5-0.
O'hana dont mean shyt to these fools in real life...
Didn't the cast of Big Bang theory do the same thing? But here's the thing, how you pay the WHITE stars more than both of the other cast mates?!?! it should be equal across the board...
Remember the seinfeld cast? they fought for those bonuses Jerry didnt have to do it but he recognized it wouldnt be the same shyt without any of them.
Thats the wrong usage of the term "on code"To keep it 100, people of African descent would have bit the bullet and been on code to get paid less than the anglo-saxons.
It was irony.Thats the wrong usage of the term "on code"
What happened with CSI?Did they have to add all that "Aloha" spirit and 'Mahalo and a hui hou' nonsense when both these actors were korean? Shyt is nothing new, same thing happened to the cast of CSI
Ps sucks tho, not a fan of the Asians but diversity is always a good thing and an Asians presence on American anything is a rarity. They just lost a steady paycheque over.......well pride
The ones playing Sara and Nick decided to not report for work (think it was between s4 and 5) in protest and then they were fired. I think the fans reaction and bad pr got them rehired but at the time it was big news as the show was a ratings juggernautWhat happened with CSI?
This.I was on that show for awhile. They were cool but only there to kinda represent "The island" in a way that didn't interfere with the old whites who actually watch the show.
But mostly all they were looking for were military-ish looking guys and skinny white girls
