This. I'd never rent a private room with the host being there. shyt just feels weird.

Superhost is ideal. If the spot got no reviews I don't book it. If nobody has stayed there in a year I don't book it. Less than 4 stars. I don't book it.

If you stick to basic rule of thumbs, most your experiences will be great

That's something I also don't get. You can deny a reservation for whatever reason. Given that she's racist, she could have declined the booking off of the profile pic alone.

I've noticed many of the listings nowadays do automatic acceptance if you click to book. Before you always had to contact the host beforehand

You will care if you are used to hotels and rent an airbnb and realize you might have to tip toe around someone else house because they hawking you cuz they dont trust you.

I misread your original post, but yeah, staying in someone's spot while they're still there is weird. I've only airbnb'd entire places, and sometimes the owner will still be around / in the same building, but I've never had to deal with them actively eyeing me / what I was doing. That would be weird. I've only considered renting out a room when I just need a place to lay my head.

Contrary to what these clowns are saying an airbnb can be ANYTHING. From a normal house to a big ass mansion. The hosts usually don't even live in that location when they rent out.
