Pushups and other bodyweight exercises is best way to determine personal strength imo, if you can throw your own bodyweight around for 60-80 reps then thats pretty strong.
that was proven to be fake

5'4" 160lbs benching 285.....I'm trying to get into the 300 club
Ima keep it a hunnid. It took me a minute just to bench above 110 pounds. Ive always been skinny and my arms are long as fukk. this is back in like freshman year of college though. I can lift pretty normally on most other exercises but the bench kicks my ass every time. Body weight might be it for me with added reps.

So y'all nikkas gonna let this nikka come through with the duck tales and not say nuffin?
If u been working out for a minute ditch bench all together and just work on jerks or other presses useful in a sport or just do dumbbells if u trying to focus on your chest cuz u will end up fukin yo shoulder up something serious. So y'all nikkas gonna let this nikka come through with the duck tales and not say nuffin?

I never understood why benching got to be so overrated. Deadlifts, Squats, Weighted Dips, Weighted Pull/chinups, Overhead/Military Press and power cleans are just as good, if not better, exercises than the Bench Press.
But I agree with the other dude that said 135 should be the barometer for benching, at least when it comes to someone that has a decent/average fitness level.
Them dips will have you begging for mercy. You get WAY MORE BURN from dips and pullups than you do from benching. Also the weighted "lumbar raises" (I don't know what to call them) where it's like a reverse situp, basically working out your lower back.
Whenever a nikka tells me "weighted", I get the
facefukk a bench
how much can you deadlift?

alot of the best pro fighters dont bench close to 300 pounds...
bench press just isnt a good measurement of strength
i cracked 220 at 16 not sure if id be able to do that now

I don't know if I'll make it there, but that's my goal. I don't even use weights anymore, straight bodyweight. I'm 225, so it's a good workout. Muscular endurance and explosion > raw strength. You'd also be surprise how much your max increases after doing straight pushups for about 6 months, but either way, I rather be able to do 100 pushups in a minute, or 225 pounds 25 times, than do 400 once.

I definitely agree with the bolded, I boosted my pushup total from being able to only do 41 to 74 reps right now I'm 5'8" 177lbs by the way. I do hit the bench once a week but I maxed out on the weights that I have at home which is why I decided to challenge myself more using my own bodyweight. I can do 225lbs on the bench 22 times and have a 1 rep max of 315lbs if that means anything to the threadstarter, but I didn't really feel "stronger" until I was able to do 70 reps with pushups then I felt like
