One more thing, don't listen to these dudes that never left their zip code.

I won't bullshyt you, you will see things in india that will shock you but imo it is something worth experiencing at least once. India is an ancient land that has mystified people for thousands of years, it's only natural for some people to have an aversion to it...but at the same time there are people who have given up everything they have to go live in india, I see them all the time when I go....its just that kind of place. A black (jamaican) chick I used to work with went to india for her best friends wedding, I gave her the run down before she went and she was kinda scared about going...she ended up loving it. I underpromised and overdelivered on purpose, which is kinda what you have to do for people going there for the first time.

You will either love it or hate it.

Don't drink the water.

I won't tell you not to give to beggars, but if you do, do it discreetly...otherwise a flock will descend upon you.

If you are buying shyt, never pay asking price... you are more than likely getting ripped off.

Definitely try and take a train ride, it's a great way to see the country, and the transition from village to city life before your eyes. Dont eat food thats offered to you though. If you feel brave enough, take a bus too, but im warning you not everybody is built for that.

I suggest checking out the south if you can, people are more educated and modern, and more likely to be friendly towards you. The south is more like "real" India culturally, no Muslim influence like you see in the north. It also has the best temples and scenery.
I want to go there now!!!
india and Nepal but have to chill due to earthquakes..
I was close to going India when I was in china.

Half these dudes never left America.

Your more likely to get killed in your american city than overseas as a tourist

I was close to going India when I was in china.

Next time I go I plan to take a touring route from the northeast to the southwest. Trying to stay out there for at least 8 weeks.

It's definitely the worst living conditions out of all the BRIC... Obviously if you just stay in a resort than things will be different.

I've even had Indians tell me to be wary of the water and pay attention to where and how your food is prepared :manny:

Two tourist monuments and two resort pictures... What about the rest of the time?

The overpowering and overwhelming smell of shyt :russ:

It's one of the few places on this planet I'd turn down a free ticket to :Chill1:

QFT Never seen or heard anything that made me want to visit. Add to that they've got their caste system. Being dark-skinned down there gets you nothing.

Cmon man I can go to a nice resort in the shyttiest places on the planet. We're talking about what a country looks like when you go outside the walls and stop hitting those tourist traps. If you want to just hang out in a resort, just stay in the US

Doesn't India have a river or something like that with dead bodies floating in it that people bathe and drink from :scust:
