Around what year did you stop listening to "New" rap regularly?

Very weird comment here. I'm 40 and I listen to the current shyt. So tell me. What am I supposed to be listening to? Gospel?
You're supposed to be listening to your generations music. You think my dad stopped listening to P-Funk and started bumping T-pain just it's newer? He still got the same rotation he had since the 70's and listens to classic radio stations. :dahell: you get gospel from? start digging in the crates nikka.

Also known as the end of Classic Hip Hop

To me everything after that is Contemporary Rap. Kinda like the diff between Classic R and B and what came after

Its really different genres so I'm good. Classic Hip Hop is complete and there's plenty of it for me to listen to. No need for new stuff of questionable quality

Yeah I really agree with this.

Even thru Pandora I’m still finding brand new old stock music...aka stuff that came out 20+ years ago that I never got into. There’s a ton and more than enough...I have many on my waiting list to get to.

You sure can if you are a fan of hiphop

The guys you named don’t rap like the rappers of the gen prior to them

I don’t understand why 90s east coast bias lends itself to such stale and cliche opinions on rap

I’m so glad I didn’t grow up on that music. People from the other regions have regions and era have such a better view and understanding of the culture
You can’t put us all in that category. I definitely have a 90s east coast bias becuz that’s where I’m from and those were my teenage years. But I’ve always appreciated shyt from other regions

Aside from a hot track here and there...

"New" in relative terms. The No Limit/Cash Money era could be considered new to some people just as the mumble rap genre.

2012
2014 for me. 2 years after I graduated from college.

I'm 45... stopped checking for "new" stuff around '05.. I hear 'new" stuff cause I got kids and a wife listens to the radio but usually when I'm driving I tune out the radio unless I'm by myself and its WFAN sports radio

used to bring my mp3s on a HD and rock headphones at work.. rotation is strictly '90s rap artists .. (meaning if you a 90s rapper still making music if I like you I definitely copping) new artists I like must have that 90s feel and I usually find out about them from the booth.

1) Ain't no e-thuggin over here. I'm 100 w/ this Breh. And, Yes. I would start off a convo like that. Ive done it in the past, OMM. And that's ur fault if you took it as disrespect. If u can't detect that I wasn't 100% serious w/ that then:yeshrug:

2) You got a point in a sense, but you still provin MY point. shyt, I'ma hip hop head, but I don't check for the new shyt all the time. I was raised in the culture and I respect it. Youre gonna have way more younger ppl check-in for new rap instead of old heads. After a certain age in most cases. The only ppl who still do that after a certain age either have an occupation that deals w/ music, or youth culture or they are like you said, a fanatic. And of course theres no way that old heads could avoid hearing new shyt, but they're not actively looking for it. No one said that us who stop check-in for new shyt just love in a bubble, we just are indifferent about what's current. Thus kinda proving my point again.

And for the bolded...who's complaining?

1) No u wouldn't. Not with me. My Army rank is E 8. U would never. No stranger does that in reality so I know for a fact u wouldnt be the 1st.

2) You make an excellent point...But I still stand by what I said. I'll flip it another way. U cant be a WWE head if all u know is the heyday of the 80's and 90's. It dont work like that focused on the higlight era of Hulk Hogan, Roddy Pipper, Brett Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin but u are unfamiliar with "The Modern Day Maharaja. No. U gotta stil watch Monday night Raw. U gotta be up to date. That was the conversation during that Goodz vs Cassidy battle. U had the real headz who been on that day one shyt with Battle Rap then u had the "Johny Come Lately s" who only were interested in the hype because of Cassidy but hadnt really watched a battle rap match since Mook and Iron Solomon. The Johnny Come Latelys represent these old heads u are refering to who know who Cardi B is but dont know 38 Spesh. And I honestly believe u and the others who co signed u just got aggy because I was saying u arent really into it like a fanatic or a real hip hop head is.....But I have to call it like I see it because I'm 40 and I stay digging because I'm a hip hop head (like a crack head who cant quit)Some of those names who dapped and co signed u I never even see in the Booth which proves my point.

And for the bolded....I dont know why u asked that question. U are the one who was speaking for 40 and 50 year olds correct? Well the only ones who aren't checking for new shyt the way u described are the old heads who always go "I dont fukk with this new music...back in my day...blah blah blah".....Thats me responding to how u presented the statement.

LOL....Like I said, ya'll aint no real hip hop heads.....u telling me what I'm supposed to listen to is laughable. U and whoever dapped that gotta be trolling :russ:

fukk 38 Spesh, let me keep playing 36 Chambers over and over again. :mjlol:

Move That Dope bangs in the whip but I cant listen to it because Luke Cage from the coli said I'm not supposed to.:heh:

Here I am saying Cardi Bs album was actually cool and Rapsodys album was the last album I was impressed with lyrically by a female and how Megan Thee Stallion got me curious enough to check out her album which drops next friday but I'm not supposed to be up on any of that. :laff:

I cant be up on Mozzy or Don Q because some random guy on a messageboard who doesnt pay my bills and never did shyt for me in life said I can only listen to The Chronic and Doggystlye. :bryan:

I swear some of u posters are seriously in fantasy land with your false sense of entitlement.

:comeon:

Now u e thugging. The convo is over once u start saying sideways shyt that u wouldn't dare say to me if we were in front of each other. I just finished explaining that having kids keeps u updated on who is who but u ignored that and attempted to be a comedian. I'm one of those posters that cant take a poster serious once they go in that direction so. I'll end this right here. U can have the last word.
