And I'm not going to lie, AEW being over a million this week was pretty surprising when you look at the quarter hours. I figured it was going to be because the main event popped a massive number. And while it did do a pretty good number compared to the last-4-weeks trend, people that tuned in from the beginning largely stayed throughout the duration of the night - other than Big Bang Theory stragglers - despite it being announced within the first 15 minutes that the Mark Briscoe match was going to be the main event. So it would appear that there was enough resonating on the card to generally keep people throughout the night.

Based on what? Attendance? Possibly, but not ratings. They do decent ratings around this time then fall flat by Mid-April.

That's why I said wait until after Mania season because in '98 that's when shyt took off afterwards.
And AEW viewership numbers typically peak in the summer and early fall when don't have to compete with the MLB Playoffs and NBA on Wednesday nights.

what did i say in my post that wasn't a fact though?

There hasn’t been a legit wrestling boom in over 20 years and there won’t be one again. Wrestling is a niche product and all the numbers you presented are good but they are a product of hardcore and casual wrestling fans. For there to be a boom, it would have to bring in non wrestling fans and have a bigger affect on pop culture imo.

Breh there was a time when wrestling was legit having NFL/NBA numbers.

Nowadays WWE and em know that shyt is a losing battle :mjlol:
Imagine Raw beating Monday Night Football and it being normal :wow:

I'd say if WWE can get to 4-5 millly a week along with AEW hitting 2-3 milly a week. In this time we boomin then.

I’ve watched wrestling for over 30 years and wrestling has never been as accepted mainstream wise then it has been now.

The coverage during the Attitude era seemed to be very condescending and dismissive of the product at the time.
this is just wrong lol.

No one was being condescending about the popularity of Austin, Rock, Hogan etc when they were constantly on mainstream shows

there's a difference between the wrestling business being successful (and it is, very!) and there being a "boom".

The NFL was legit worried about WWE/WCW during the Monday Night Wars, THAT is a boom.

What are you even on about?
NFL season is in playoffs and RAW XXX + Mania season. Wrestling is always "hot" at this time, but look back to even 10 years ago and you'll realize they were pulling 3.5-4.0's around this time. It's nowhere near hot. Just a couple of weeks ago these guys were doing 1.3 on the last hour of RAW.

One decent storyline doesn't change the fact that people aren't really tuning in. Both companies lack a transcendent star that draws in the audiences and both are too corporate to let anyone with potential get over. We will most-likely never see a boom again mainly because of that.

Dudes talking about "boom" but you know why the WWE gets away with shyt that the NFL or NBA or even MLB could never do (ie. Saudi Arabia shows, CEO be marred in scandal and it barely registering in the mainstream's conscious)? BECAUSE THERE IS NO BOOM! Lol. And it probably benefits the wrestling world that there isn't a boom and that they are just a majorly successful niche industry because it allows them to get away with a ton of shyt that other major industries cannot.

are you tripping? You had wrestlers all over the media: SNL, mad tv, MTV TRL and awards, Good Morning America. These dudes were getting heavy pops when they came out. It still happens Nowadays with wrestlers outside the wrestling bubble, but no one is going crazy over the current wrestlers like they did back then.

Wrestling was more accepted in the general public during the AE compared to now.
