We had talks before the re-editing and reshoots that it was in the 225 mil range. Add P&A to that, which was most likely in the 150mil range , that movie barely got a profit. IMHO.
You are just looking at box office profit. With ancillary, toys, TV syndication, etc. Suicide Squad will be more than profitable. How much profit, they studio WILL NEVER let you truly know, because of the creative accounting they do for biz reasons. WB is more than happy with Suicide Squad. Which is why you are seeing spinoffs and will see a sequel.

TV deals and licensing are fine and dandy, doesn't mean SS made massive profits that justify the monetary investment.

It's funny because he was really on the verge of breaking out around Watchmen coming off strong roles in acclaimed indie films like Hard Candy and Little Children, then he just kinda disappeared again. Definitely someone you can always rely on to turn in a good performance.

You would have have to not know much about finances to not understand the concept of low vs high return on investment.

What spinoffs, harley quinn was recieved well, thats about the only one i've heard of. As for why, their movies have been shakey and they are trying to run with anything that they thing can get them back on solid footing. Affleck got great reviews and buzz being Batman, so now the Batman movie is coming out before JL I hear. Typical DC/WB being reactionary
