Anyway she was right : a poor white blond man would be diversity among those rich silicon valley guys.

The reality is "diversity" is a very broad term : you can put a lot of things in it, not just race and sex.
She was not right you fukkin idiot.

If she was right, she would still have a fukking job as the diversity chief.

Her job was to help the company deviate from their status quo, nobody is talking about poor or rich white men, because the status quo is already too many white men hired. Many of the white men hired could already have poor family backgrounds.

She had 1 job to do, and she failed at it in a weak effort to appease cac men.

It's unfortunate she made such a dumb statement publicly.
However I give her her props for setting up a program a HBCUs to get Black people a direct pipeline to Sillivone Valley.

Hopefully the work she's put in and will continue to put in is not overshadowed by this misstep.

I'm curious to know what she will do next.

You honestly think this lady was set up for success? Or that she had any real chance at creating a diverse make up at Apple? A trillion dollar business that is not even all the way honest in its core business? (Tax evasion, slave labor, opulent marketing strategy)

Apple Awards 30 HBCU Students Scholarships in $40 Million Diversity Effort

Apple awarded 30 HBCU students a one-year college scholarship and a summer internship program at Apple’s headquarters at the Leadership Institute in Washington D.C., last weekend.

Hosted by the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) the students were chosen from across 47 HBCUs. The 30 Apple scholars were announced by Denise Young-Smith, vice president for worldwide human resources, Apple. Young-Smith is herself a graduate of an HBCU; Grambling State University.

“The people at Apple don’t just create products—they create the kind of wonder that’s revolutionized entire industries,” remarked Young-Smith at the ceremony. “And it’s the diversity of those people and their ideas that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do, from amazing technology to industry-leading environmental efforts,” she said.

The Apple HBCU Scholars Program is part of the new Apple and TMCF Diversity Initiative between Cupertino and TMCF. As part of the partnership, Apple made a $40 million dollar multi-year commitment, the largest and most comprehensive corporate investment ever given exclusively for students and faculty of four-year HBCUs.

“There are ‘scholarships’ and then there are ‘scholarship programs,’” said TMCF President & CEO Johnny C. Taylor Jr. “Apple has made an historic investment in a scholarship program that will transform the lives of HBCU star students by not only removing the financial barriers to college attendance, but by providing them additional non-financial program elements like Apple mentors and summer internships. These Apple HBCU Scholars will be the future tech industry leaders.”

The scholarship includes up to $25,000 for their senior year; a summer internship in Cupertino, California; participation in a year-round program to prepare for post-graduation careers; pairing with an Apple mentor during their senior year; the opportunity to serve as Ambassadors on their campuses to build awareness about the Apple and TMCF Diversity Initiative; an invitation to attend TMCF’s Annual Leadership Institute; and participation in the Apple HBCU Immersion Experience in Cupertino.

“This program is about exposing gifted students from HBCUs to a career in technology. We’re big believers that innovation will be strongest when talented people from diverse backgrounds are part of the creative process,” said Young-Smith. “That’s why we’re so proud to be partnering with TMCF to help us find the next generation of innovators.”

One of the Apple HBCU scholars, Lauren Patterson, previously interned at Apple. She introduced Young-Smith at the event.

“I learned a lot at Apple last summer. It was a great experience working with people from all backgrounds,” said Patterson. “I love to code,” she said. Patterson wants to do anything “code-related” for a career, including being a software engineer.

No, I think she was set up to be the face of apples diversity marketing push. She was hired to promote the idea of Apple being more inclusive and welcoming of everyone.

Her job is political spin. Being the diversity chief at Apple like being the chief of environmental protection outreach at Exxon Mobil, you are there to present a different political spin.

Exxon Mobil still gonna be out there with the status quo of fukking up the environments and disrupting Shyte because that’s part of their business, but they can hire someone whose 1 job is to buck the status quo and go “this is what we do to help the eviorment everyday, here is the proof”.

Her job was similar, Apple status quo is a white status quo, her only job is to buck that trend and go “this is what we do everyday to be more inclusive of minorities and establish and establish a more diverse environment in our company”

That Shyte is just spin for Apple! Apple still gonna be outchea hiring white person after white person after white person over qualified minority candidates, the status quo won’t chnage AND that’s why she didn’t need to make that statement.

Apple didn’t hire her to defend why they have so many white males or spin what diversity really means, they hired her for 1 job only, buck the status quo and be the mouth piece for their “we are becoming more inclusive...See!” Spin job.

She had job to do and she decided to appease the group that didn’t need appeasings feelings instead of doing her job, so now they had to hire a white women to get fukking “diversity” right.

That’s the part that bothers me the most, the fact this black women fukked up so badly on diversity, that they said, “let’s get a liberal/ possibly gay white woman, they understand this diversity thing we trying to accomplish a bit better.”

Then some of y’all nikkahs wonder why a room full of white people will have “diversity” meetings and argue with nikkahs about what diversity really means, that Shyte a political tools and nikkahs arguing semantics, morality, and shallow ass logical points. It’s political lady, just do your 1 job at Apple, you don’t need to cape for cac men.

It's much easier for a breh to get into a technical position at these silicon Valley companies like engineering because it's a very objective thing. You having certain credentials and passing certain technical tests proves you can do the job.
So you will typically see a lot of diversity at the individual contributor level. And they will get paid well.

Now leadership positions on the other hand? That is a completely different beast. Your masters degree or coding ability doesn't matter at that level. It's much more subjective. The directors have to 'feel' that you are a good fit for the job. Much easier to discriminate at this level. It just ends up being good ol boy network for most leadership positions.
