The fact is it was weak that:

Candie was the main villain and the one that has put Django's wife through hell and Django didn't get to kill him. That was a wack plot point period, no spinning it. He was the main villain of the movie and the "Hero" didn't even kill him. That wasn't no sacrifice from Dr. King, that was his own arrogance that messed up the plan. I think that scene messed up the flow of the ending cause the movie felt like 2 endings after that happen.
Why are y'all posting spoiler tags? It's a thread for people who already seen Django, it's right there in the thread title lol.

Anyways, one way to look at it is Sam was the one that seen Hilde knew Django and was the cause of the plan fukkin up in the first place. He was also acting like a black slaver a bit who Django said theres nothing lower than. He got his ass pretty good so :ehh:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think killing Calvin was in the plan anyways

The biggest villain is Sam Jack The c00n, hes the main one keeping money in the massas pocket, and aint shyt changed from then and now, except the ones keeping money in the white mans pockets are (for example) the rappers glorifying crime and going to jail, and buying shyt we dont need:tj:

Actually Sam is not the main villain, he becomes the defacto main villain after the fact. Leo owned and ran Candie Land. He put Django's wife through Hell, he was the main villain of the movie. I understand your point, Sam's role as a villain can't be understated but he was Candie's #2 .

Qt changed the ending while shooting the movie i heard... Anyone read the original script?

Yep, I read it before the movie came out and I have to say, looking back the Script though it was long as hell really filled the story in more. But QT got really scared of the controversy and took out things like the Rape, showing Django getting captured for the 1st time. But the script I read had the same basic ending but it does a great job of telling Broomhilda's backstory which was taken from the film and made Kerry's part weaker.

I have a feeling it will come up empty at the awards season cause it's too controversial. They already snubbed them at a few awards shows and "Lincoln" and "Zero Dark Thirty" seems to have a lot of momentum. It did get 5 Golden Globe nods but I don't think it's winning anything. Leo is going to have to wait a little longer but he has "The Great Gasby" and "Wolf on Wall St" coming out so I think he will get one in the coming years. If you want me to be honest, Sam played the best supporting role over Leo and Waltz. But I don't want Sam to win for that C**N role, lol.

Calvin Candie was not the main villian towards Django, Stepthen was. Stepthen was the one who had her placed in the hot box when they finally found her. He also protested Django being let in the big house. He is the one who figured out that Django and Broomehilda either knew each other or husband and wife. He was the one who brought it to Candie's attention. He was also the mothafukka who gave Laura Candie the idea of sending Django to work at the mine until he died instead of just out right cutting his balls and letting him bleed out. Without Stepthen, they would gotten away with their whole scheme.

:childplease: samjackson was playing sam jackson...

I agree but there's this thing called "Scene Stealing" and the minute he came on the screen he commanded the rest of the movie over everyone. Sure he was overacting but I think that was the point of the character. Waltz was basically the same guy from b*stards but good this time. Leo went out of his comfort zone so he should get props but Sam to me stole the movie and the fact he ended up having a larger role as the movie ended really accented his part. As horrible as it was to glorify a house n!gga the way they did, I'm a fan of film and acting 1st.

Regardless of my feelings of wither the movie should or shouldn't of gotten made. I can't front on Jamie, Waltz, Leo and Sam. They all gave really good performances. Jamie's was the weakest but I like how cold he was. Plus in most westerns, the Hero doesn't say a lot but QT didn't write a strong part for Jamie, there wasn't enough character development but he still played the role well. Sam to me was the best supporting actor. But I would feel a certain way about him winning an award for that part. Also "Django Unchained" just crossed 100 Million at the Box Office so it made it's budget back and it hasn't opened overseas yet. Maybe QT should send Spike a check, obviously controversy sells and Spike comments did fuel the hype about the movie.

That just proves that Stephen was good #2 to his boss but the fact is Candie was the main villain of the movie cause he was the plantation owner and he was the one they had to get through to get the deed for Broomhilda. Stephen didn't buy Broomhilda and put her in that situation Candie did. The name of the plantation was Candie Land, not Stephen land. Candie was the boss. Also I think QT would be sending the wrong message making The Black Guy the main villain of a Slave Movie. I think Stephen ended up that way cause of the twist the story took after what Dr. King did. Also they still would of gotten away if not for Dr. King's arrogance more than anything else. Stephen indirectly gave Django new life cause sending him to the mine was way better than castration.

Stephen was INDEED the main villian. he was the one that actually was on control and was manipulating everything from behind the scenes. the most telling part was when he got candie back to the library to tell him the truth about django and he was in there lounge with a glass of wine like he was the one in charge. you can see him tell the overseers whut to do even AFTER candie was killed without them knowing it. it's the reason why django saved HIM for last because he was the main villian overall. candie was merely a puppet.

It may seem that why because we all know what happens at the end of the movie. But in the context of the story, Calvin Candie became the evil that Dr King tried not associate with. Before they reached Candie Land, Dr King never experience first hand the conditions the slaves endeared. That's why after they agreed (by gun and shot gun point :sadbron:) on the sale of Broomhilda, the act of seeing a slave ripped apart by dogs stuck with him. Even during the scene Calvin and Django talk about:

Calvin: you're German friends seems a bit unnerved for trying to get into the Mandingo fighting business

Django: He just never dealt with Americans before

I'm paraphrasing but it was something along those lines. Those who have seen it twice will confirm for me. He just couldn't stand doing business with a man of that nature. Shaking hands meant he agreed with the whole practice which he didn't. Now the reason he put the blam blam to Calvin was because Calvin was basically humiliating him.

And just because Calvin owned Candie Land doesn't mean much. Stephen was in charge of keeping the slaves in check. He had power over them. He was the slaver that Django said was lower than low. Calvin ain't give a fukk about Broomhilda. At dinner he was ready to deal her away. And it wasn't gonna be for no $12,000. It wasn't until Stephen brought it to his attention then Calvin was like cool, ima get these son of bytches money.

In the hindsight of the movie, Stephen did give Django a new lease on life. But who know in 1858, this nikka would

A) convince these superior white folks that he was a bounty hunter :wow:

B) Kill said white folks with their own guns :ooh:

C) Come back riding on a horse and lay the murder game down quite flat :whew:

Stephen wanted Django to suffer until the day he dies. That's why he sent him to the mine. But after they buried Calvin and Django was waiting for them at the big house, Stephen was like :dwillhuh:

And let's be honest. There were people who let their own folks hang in the sight of their superiors since man roamed the planet. Whether it was the blacks, Romans, Turks, whoever, if you follow history, people have been selling out their own kind for ages. As humans, we are our own worst enemy. No one can kill us like we kill ourselves. I hate the white man as much as the next nikka, but ill put a bullet into a nikka selling me out just as i would these crackas

LOL @ you guys minimizing Candie's role like he was some side character. His character was set up long before we even met Stephen. His characters actions with the runaway slave set the tone that he was in charge. He wasn't no puppet, he ran the show. He listened to Stephen cause they had a long history but at the end of the Day He was the Boss. Stephen took orders from Candie not the other way around. If Stephen had so much power than Django would of never even been in the house but that wasn't the case once Candie put his foot down. In my view Django should of been the one to do it not Dr. King.

wasn't what I expected. wasn't all that great. Sam Jackson had the best performance, he made me laugh. just hearing his voice say some of the stuff he was saying was :dead: I have no idea why people were talking like white people might be uncomfortable watching this movie, django didn't do half the killing I thought he was...and he was second fiddle to dr. king
