The sad truth is that a film depicting the Holocaust the same way as slavery is depicted here would never fly in Hollywood (certainly not with backing from the Weinsteins), but I really dont think thats fair grounds for dismissing the film altogether. There is not one single director who could pull that off and work another day in the business. Its a blatant bias no doubt

I was surprised and embarrassed by people in the theatre laughing at times where it really was not intended to be funny, but hey, thats our society I guess. Overall, it worked as a revenge flick and I really think it did more good than harm

Honestly, who cares that Django didnt kill Candie? He killed damn near everyone else, and King doing it made his own death more emotional. He sacrificed his own life.

My generation will support the film but I don't see a lot of older black people loving it. For that reason I can't fully give it a pass. Also SMH @ QT:

So you going to have Dr. King kill :leostare:, so Django couldn't kill the main Villian?, SMH

:youngsabo: my mother-in-law and both my parents loved the movie. lol@ not giving something a pass because old people don't like it. doesn't matter if it was set 2 years before the civil war or 2 years after the civil war, they were still lynching, killing, and hanging black people well into the 1960s. rosewood and posse are both action movies, do they trivialize slavery?

"Leonardo DiCaprio cut his hand while the cameras were rolling on the set of Django Unchained and kept moving through the scene, never breaking character, and his real-life bloodied hand made it into the final version of the film. During one take of that scene, DiCaprio unintentionally slammed his hand into glass, creating a gash that later required stitches. But that didn’t stop him from doing his job. As his hand bled quite visibly, DiCaprio kept going, even using the hand as a new dramatic prop. At one point he smears his bloodied hand over Broomhilda’s face in an act of evil dominance. And Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) looks horrified as he does it. (Perhaps Washington wasn’t acting!) And that was the take that director Quentin Tarantino kept in the film. "

:wow:

Honestly her facial expression stood out to me in that scene. That bytch looked absolutely horrified and filled with terror. Great great film!

I was under the impression that the part where he smeared blood on her was after he got treated. So that part was fake blood. I need confirmation

You can tell how he.looked down at his hand that something was up, but it added realism .:ld:
