wasn't what I expected. wasn't all that great. Sam Jackson had the best performance, he made me laugh. just hearing his voice say some of the stuff he was saying was I have no idea why people were talking like white people might be uncomfortable watching this movie, django didn't do half the killing I thought he was...and he was second fiddle to dr. king
U said two thing: Django didn't do half the killing i though he was gonna do, and he played second fiddle to Dr. King.
With your first statement, Django ran thru a whole house of white folks, three people on a plantation, and and sniped two people? Who else did u want him to kill?
With him "playing second fiddle to Dr. King." Not sure what u meant, but it sounds like u were saying that the Django was playing second fiddle to his MENTOR and TEACHER, Dr. King.
Go figure
It's iight doe. Rock gonna be on Monday Night so its all good
LOL @ you guys minimizing Candie's role like he was some side character. His character was set up long before we even met Stephen. His characters actions with the runaway slave set the tone that he was in charge. He wasn't no puppet, he ran the show. He listened to Stephen cause they had a long history but at the end of the Day He was the Boss. Stephen took orders from Candie not the other way around. If Stephen had so much power than Django would of never even been in the house but that wasn't the case once Candie put his foot down. In my view Django should of been the one to do it not Dr. King.
candie was a RUSE. just because he was introduced before stephen means nothing. NONE of the problems that occurred until stephen awareness of whut was going on and hipped candie to the game.
stephens fingers prints was behind everything that went down from showing broom hilda's back to see the scars to get a reaction, telling the overseers and slave trackers to stop shooting because he got broom hilda and got django to surrender. even heavily implied him manipulating candie's sister into selling django off to the mining company. HE WAS THE VILLIAN. candie couldn't care less about whut should happen to django OR his wife... he was merely pissed that he was getting conned and turned the tables.
stephen on the other hand wasn't going go out like that. he wanted django punished and bought back into slavery.
I just heard a screener for this movie leaked so I hopped on Piratebay and sure it enough it was there. Best believe Im D/Ling it this very moment. 45% done so soon Im about to find out what all the hype is about

"Rosewood" was a drama with action elements and it was based on a true story also it did not take place during Slavery but the early 1900's. "Posse" did not take place during Slavery and the point was to highlight that Blacks were in fact Cowboys in early 1900's. "Django" is a fantasy film not based in reality. Also there is a generational split when it comes to this movie.
I personally can't give it a pass cause again I don't believe Slavery is an action adventure. The only stories that fit that are The Haitian Revolution and or Harriett Tubman and the underground railroad. I could see that being an Action/Suspense films cause of the story but a Slave Revenge Fantasy, I don't know about it 100% that's just me. I personally feel it does water down the history cause like I said, Slavery wasn't an action adventure for Blacks, it was hell.
rosewood is a action/drama movie loosely based on the rosewood massacre, with that said it's barely a drama. ving rhame's character did not exist and most of the events of the movie have been fictionalized to make it more exciting for theater purposes. posse took place 30 years after the civil war which meant the cowboys were either former slaves or children of slaves. gfoh like posse was realistic. django isn't a movie about slavery it's a movie that took place during slavery, that pretty much means the movie isn't about slavery. once again setting =/= plot it's really that simple.
The sad truth is that a film depicting the Holocaust the same way as slavery is depicted here would never fly in Hollywood (certainly not with backing from the Weinsteins), but I really dont think thats fair grounds for dismissing the film altogether. There is not one single director who could pull that off and work another day in the business. Its a blatant bias no doubt
I was surprised and embarrassed by people in the theatre laughing at times where it really was not intended to be funny, but hey, thats our society I guess. Overall, it worked as a revenge flick and I really think it did more good than harm
Honestly, who cares that Django didnt kill Candie? He killed damn near everyone else, and King doing it made his own death more emotional. He sacrificed his own life.
I don't think it made his death more emotional or sacrificial at all... If anything he comes off as selfish during that scene, which is why he apologized before he got peeled back. He essentially got Django caught and Broomhilda was no longer free to leave.... It took Jamie's wit and good aim to rescue Broomhilda in the end, making him the hero...
Idk if anyone mentioned or noticed this, the scene after Django escaped the aussies. one of the cacs in the cabin asked what was wrong with the dogs, Jamie shouted "D'Artagnan motherfukka" right before he came through bustin his guns
