I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
I always look back on films of the past and wonder, if they were released in this day and age, would they do well - money wise. The Godfather, at one point, was one of the highest grossing films of all time, and I wonder how well it would do now. You could put any film of the past in that spot too. I think films like JAWS, Star Wars, Raider of the Lost Ark, and Back to the Future would do well. Beverly Hills Cop might do well also. In 2014, Whiplash and Birdman were two of my favorite films of that year, but I know they weren't on any highest grossing films of 2014 lists.

E.T. spent 16 weeks at #1. That record will never be broken again.

And they didn't run it into the ground with sequels.

Still the GOAT Summer Movie. Wish I was alive to see it in theaters.

:wow:

Breh I totally forgot the new Jurassic World was out :skip:

I feel this, but honestly the only films fit for a theater experience to me were always blockbusters. A clockwork Orange or The Shinning films like that are not the films to watch in a recliner chair in a room full of people to me. Even when I was a kid the movie theater always felt like a juvenile setting for fun above all else to me.

Right now the streaming services are throwing bags at people at a crazy rate so in a few years we will see if it's the studios, the audiences or if American creativity has just collectively fallen the fukk off.
Kubrick films aren't meant to be watched on a big screen? News to me. Whenever I watch Space Odyssey, Shining, Eyes Wide Shut....I envy those who were able to witness it in a theater.

2001 was playing in theaters not too long ago for its 50th anniversary, breh. You might've fukked up if you failed to see it then.:russ:

Especially because it was such a goddamn transcendent experience to see it in 70mm. :whew: That and the restored version of Once Upon A Time In The West I saw like a year or two ago in theaters are two of my GOAT movie experiences.

I'm saying you typed paragraphs just to say you only see 6 films a year :goldblum:

Casual moviegoers tend to only see the blockbusters.

Cinephiles tend to see a bit of everything.

And no i don't have to thats true but i used to want to just to keep up with pop culture and the geek conversation.

No I'm wanting to stay away.

Even on TV. I probably won't watch Luke Cage. The marvel netflix shows are too long and have gotten progressively worse each time out.

Maybe I'm aging out of all this shyt like I am with most rap music

How dense are you?:stopitslime: The points have merit regardless of who said it or how many movies a year they've seen. I could see 0 movies a year and the point would still stand. :francis: You can watch the movies however and wherever you want.

What you want some sort of accreditation for being a cinephile? :hhh: OK, here you go. You're a certified, bonafide CINEAPHILE.:myman: Congratulations, you've won....fukking nothing.:ohlawd:

The only fatigue I feel about blockbusters is lil whiny fukks like you complaining about them like they just have to watch them. Anyways, bye Felecia.:camby:

No offense breh but if you only go 6 times a year you're a casual moviegoer.

I've seen 6 movies since the end of April. And there's users on here that go way more than I do.

I think Scott Mendelson at Forbes put it best. When every movie is special. No movie is special

Off topic...but that dude be having mad errors in his articles(when citing b.o. numbers)

I've been telling @MartyMcFly for years that dude badly needs an editor/proofreader etc.

I think I even tweeted at dude once saying I'll do it for him :lolbron:
