While I wouldn't say I'm sick of them yet I don't like the direction we are headed.

It's getting worse. Imagine if Disney does get FOX and does what they've been doing since Iger has been in charge. As in,only interested in 4 quadrant blockbuster's and kids films.

But,I could see people getting sick of it and the rise of frankly more interesting films again.

I feel like people's tastes in films run parallel to general happiness and the "mood" of people. The less happy people are the more likely they're to want their films to be fun, easy escapism. The world is deeply unhappy right now,and so it's what's popular now. People's lives are depressing so they seek out comfort. Nobody wants to go to the movies and feel bad or think.

The happier people are the less they care about films fitting into that box.

Or if you don't buy into that you can go with tastes run in cycles and eventually a new cycle will begin.:manny:

That's the way I look at it.

Im actually kind of psychic and i can feel that is true. Can you tell me some factors that add to your belief of this ????

Honestly I dunno if it's the films I'm tired of or is it the fanbases/culture that surrounds them. I'm sick of all the whining, complaining, stanwars, gatekeeping that folks love to do when it comes to these films. For example, the whole Last Jedi shenanigans that is still going on after several months is absolutely ridiculous.

I wish we could get more original titles. Films/properties that are fresh and don't have built in fanbases. Everybody goes in blind, and there's no bickering about what they did to the story, or so and so was miscast for this part, they got the character wrong.etc

Get what you are saying in that there is a bit of overkill going on and not letting movies breathe.

Overall, just want to watch something entertaining. :yeshrug:

If it's good,then cool. :ehh:

Yup, and I have been for a decade. I’ve basically quit movies altogether, in exchange for peak TV. You can have a much better story over 10 hours, as opposed to 2-3 hours for a movie.

shyt, I only see like 3 movies a year. Bare in mind that I have over 500 movies that I’ve watched and categorized (all pre-2005, back when I ripped every movie I rented from Netflix :wow:)

Wild sidenote.

-if only men could understand how analogus that is to women's choices in boyfriends, and realise that it's a symptom of the general disorder of the society at large, instead of getting mad at women directly

but that's on some other shyt

Nah i use to love going there. I remember hiding the last copy available behind the old ass movie section of the store nobody looked at. When i went back to return my old flicks, the new movies would be out but my hiding spots were always there.

Going to Blockbuster was dope. I also had a friend who worked there and would replastic used video games so i can sell them off as brand new to folks at school.

Tentpoles? Yes, those are not exciting anymore unless they are original like Black Panther. Blockbusters are anything that make a ton in theaters, and they can be smaller, more original movies. That is why I am excited for BlacKkKlansman and also Sorry to Bother You and want them to perform well in theaters. That way, we can see more movies such as those popping up and receiving a release in theaters. Actually support those in theaters and actually show that you want more movies similar to those with your money!

I'm very excited for Sorry and Klansman, but i'm sorry there is nothing blockbuster about those.

They are platformed releases starting as limited releases and expanding.

I can't wait for both of them and will be peeping opening weekend

Why do you feel the world is unhappy right now. Im really trying to figure that out myself as i can sense that alot really.

Where to begin

Tribalism in the US, broken politics, broken people, everyone shouting at each other, everyone mad at each other, babies being ripped away from parents on tv, babies being shot at schools, racism is legal, sexism and racism get you in the White House, and our actual discourse is in the toilet.

Even something like Star Wars and Star Trek, which are supposed to bring joy to people, have caused strife. Cast members being bullied on social media because of their gender or skin color, fans becoming entitled pricks. The world from a social standpoint and cultural standpoint is in disarray. People want an escape from that shyt

The only thing worth going to a movie theater for is a blockbuster. Something that is high spectacle and cannot be duplicated at home.
With the speed things go to DVD/cable people can just wait on any other type of movie they want to see. And cable and streaming is direct competition that does a lot of what movies do only better.
