a lot but its not that many. The ones you are referring to are those who are familiar and have been around Jamaicans and over time have learned the nuances a bit. But the average American from random place in America will not understand patois
in places like London and Toronto , they speak a watered down patois

I bet you the "they" you speak of are typically blacks who have interacted with jamaicans and other west-indians :beli:
The average mofo (who is the majority) who has never interacted with west-indians would hear someone fresh off the boat from jamaica speak patois would be like

True. but again i don't think lack of intelligibility necessarily means its a different language. although i do have to translate Patois for my friends :ehh:

no rosetta stone hookup but you should definitely get up on portuguese

the way africans and latinos have tweaked the language makes it :ohlawd:

i like the european dialect too tbh, but it's like comparing pasta to meat

i need to get into zouk man

apparently zouk is big in the French and Dutch islands
Ive been into Zouk since i was little sine i grew up around it. But THIS Zouk sounds very different than old school zouk. This is what they call "Zouk Love" with artists like Slai and Kaysha and Thierry Cham.
Im more into Zouk Rétro from the 90's which have a more traditional caribbean and latin sound by groups like Kassav and Malavoi and Edith Lefel or Ronald Rdrigue

Here are some old school Zouk samples

Ralph Thamar Caribbean DON!

Jocelyne Beroard. French-caribbean goddess :ohlawd:
I feel sorry for you young lads that didnt see this woman in her prime

And then there's Edith. R.I.P.

Black people's dominance in beautiful music is universal across all languages , brehs :blessed:

Would songs like this be considered zouk?
