Nah & im 31.

Been listening and following the artform since the late 80s

Also helps that I grew up in Hollis queens and always have been about more than rap in this hip hop culture

Nah breh, you just gotta grow your tastes a bit; evolve with the times. You're kinda sounding like those old folks who can't stand "these kids and their music." :flabbynsick:

But, I guess this happens sometimes, tbh. I used to be real into electronica, stepped away for a year or two, and then got right back into it. I say diversify your musical experiences, open your mind, and then come back to hip-hop, and I think you'll be right back into it.

:why: @ dudes acting like at this point in time music isn't basically a melting pot. This isn't 1993 anymore folks, it isn't rap music and then everything else. In 2012 rap music borrows heavily from other genres, and other genres are heavily influenced by hip hop styles like say boom bap or trap muzik. Just messing around with Pandora I've discovered shyt from artists and genres I've never heard of that sound more like hip hop than say a hiphop album like WTT. The ignorance is alarming brehs.

:noah: @ nikkas saying shyt like go back and listen to rock. Saddens me.

drifting away ? :childplease:

what kind of lame shyt is this

go listen to rock or whatever we're good over here

Exactly, gtfoh..... Wtf is "drift away?" fake grown shyt.

Bigbiz, you're the dude and all, but this attitude is everything wrong with Hip-Hop fans, and cloistered music fans in general.

If they grow out of it with respect, or even critically, then whatever. Let people listen to what they'll listen to.

I can't drift away. The problem is a lot of hip hop fans are spoiled to a certain extent. We turn to the radio and tv to still find great music within the genre. The first thing dudes have to do during this era of hip hop is turn both the tv and radio off and do some homework. If that feels like too much work then with all due respect you can move on. Yet there's plenty of good music out there but trust you will never hear Spitta, Kendrick, Skyzoo etc on the radio. Then when we do hear something good we download yet don't support. If dudes went out in enough numbers to support albums we could get wack nikkas off the shelves and real nikkas on the charts. In any other genre when they feel the mainstream acts are trash they close their wallets and don't fukk with the album. The problem is too many dudes are content with wack shyt. Instead of letting wack shyt fly, try to get real shyt pushed. If you love hip hop that shouldn't be tough, if you gotta question your love for it the door and bushes are right there.

I listen to rap everyday, so the answer is no.

This...

But I don't listen to the type of music I did when I was younger as much....Like Chris Rock said, I love hip hop but I get tired of defending it...A lot of the shyt is so shallow, repetitive and meaningless that it's not even worth searching for the artistic worth in it...

I still get excited when I hear something different and refreshing, and I'll always bump the classics...
