Apparently on the Coli someone is white if they don't feel the same about hip hop like they once did.......

They are forced to like it FULLY like they did when they were young, or they are a evil white man corrupting the culture and not understanding.

I think What the op means is cause of the recent music he feels he's drifting away. I'm sure he's aware of old school music and that there are some new good artists but the quantity and quality isn't up to par as before.

For some reason lately I been listening to top 40 more, never thought I would

I'm drifting...not necessarily away...definitely doesn't occupy my musical space like it use to...unless i'm listening to older stuff...haven't even listened to the whole Lupe album..and that's not like me......I'm just doing hip hop jazz instrumentals right now....that's all I can do right now.....

What hiphop jazz instrumentals you listening to? Just started listening myself and trying to expand my collection.

Y'all nikkas are quick to call somebody a "cac" when they don't like the direction hip-hop is going right now...

I ain't black cuz i don't listen to c00nery music like 2 Chainz, Wakka, Future, Lil B, Nicki Minaj, etc on a daily basis...

I ain't black cuz i don't like nikkas like Rick Ross cuz he presents a fake lifestyle and when people tell u how fake he is..the ONLY response they have is.."He stays making good music tho :yeshrug:" :what:..

So I ain't black cuz i would rather listen to Adele because she has more soul in her music then alot of music out right now....possibly more then Beyonce...but hey thats just me...

The logic some you nikkas have in this forum is just :mindblown:

OP were you born in the U.S
Sometime thats has a effect

No, I was born in Belgium, then lived in New Rochelle from ages 3 to 8 (left in 88 so I just missed the GOAT era :to:). Haven't lived in the US since (been back a couple times) but never stopped listening to rap. But indeed not being in a environment dominated by rap and HH culture in general probably has an effect.

Never really cared about beats, I focus on music that is authentic, which is the reason Nas, Eminem, and Scarface had quotables this year and not Rick Ross.

I understand where you coming from because I can't listen to a lot of music these days because I can't relate to the artists. I never had any hoe I wanted, never had a Maybach, never had bands and bands of money, never was having fun all the time. This is not creative at all.

I have no complaints about rap. The west coast is making a nice push with TDE and Nipsey Hussle, the south still putting out garbage music, and I wish the east coast was more diverse and active.

That's exactly the way I feel, added to the fact that HOW they rapping about it isn't even "fresh". I mean I couldn't really relate to a lot of stuff Death Row was rapping about, but the beats and the flows made me listen to it. I tried to listen to more Maybach Music for example (since it's "hot", I assumed so many people can't be wrong) but it just isn't on that level.

i'm hip hop forever since i was a kid, but in recent time i have been able to appreciate music outside of the genre which i was never able to do before

i dont know if thats what you mean, but if you a true music head which means you listening to music all the time, listening to the same type of music 24 hours a day 7 days a week no matter what genre is gonna have you at some point not seeing new music of that genre as fresh or different. i think thats what you're stuck at, i tried to veer away, but the bytch keep pulling me back in cause after a long day of work i need to hear some of my favorite rap songs

Yeah i've always listened to music outside of rap (electronic music, "african" music such as soukouss, traditionnal music, congolese rumba, soudl, jazz, funk, grunge, rock, chanson française, when I was in Italy I discovered pizzica and tarantela music...) but lately it's been more and more. But I always come back too, I listened to Wu all past week :salute:

I bet 100 that none of these "Im drifting :wrist: " fakkits, are black.

Hip Hop is something that is a part of my peoples soul and culture. You cant just "drift" away from it.

Needless to say, you are prolly just a aging fella of another hue, its all good, hip hop wasnt really made for ya anyway.

:comeon:

Will always listen to Hip-Hop, when I turn 30,40,50+ its apart of me. Hip-hop, Jazz,Soul,Roots Reggae, Dancehall, even Rock. Why be on a message board thats mainly hip-hop and make a statement like this though?

To discuss? :yeshrug:

This is absolute Bullshyt. There is waaaay more variety now than there has ever been because of the internet

There was more variety in the mainstream. Back then you had different styles of rap like Tupac, A Tribe Called Quest, Heavy D, De La Soul, Ice Cube, PM Dawn and others all being embraced in the mainstream and being played on the radio and embraced on the charts. Different styles were embraced and you didn't have to search for it.

You don't have that now. The mainstream is dominated by one type of rap and they all sound the same. You want something different now, you have to search for it. Things are slowly changing tho.

I dunno why the hell this @CrimsonTider argues with older ppl. its clear u like 19 and never seen the peak of RAPCITY and sh!t. How much more diverse and potent it was. Ironically, when it was less mainstream than it is now.

I'm starting to mess with R&B a lot more due to the trash in hiphop. I mean I still check for some hiphop, but not like I used to. Maybe it's cause I'm older, but this new shyt just isn't doing it for me.

I do fukk with Life is Good, and Lupe's new joint though.
