Well let's get right to it, I've been getting bad razor bumps and was wondering whats the best way to shave.

Are you supposed to shave with the grain? Against the grain? Does it even matter?

How do you know which is way with the grain or against it lol

I know yous guys are probably looking at the title like wtf but like many in the black community I grew up with out a pops so I had to figure out all this shyt myself brehs :mjcry: The struggle is real.

I've been using Gillette pro glide razors and a Philips Norelco architect to shape up my mustache and trim hairs if that makes any difference.

I read that getting razor bumps genetic

But
Shave with the grain
Short strokes
I use a hydro 5 razor and a double sided razor

Use a toothbrush to clean the hair out under hot water after each stroke
So u don't redistribute cut hair into your pores

Yeah, don't.

Ever since i started using clippers on my face i haven't had razor bumps and minimal ingrown hairs since. :whew:
Do you use shaving cream with that or just the bare clippers on your face?

That actually used to make the razor bumps worse to the point where I told my barber not to touch my mustache or goatee at all with the clippers when he was giving me my hair cut lol.

Thanks for the tips. I'll try those especially that toothbrush one.

Get your own set of electric trimmers to shave your face.............preferably the Andis Outliner.....or outliner 2

some barbers don't use good sanitary / hygiene practices on their tools

Good tips by everybody. I'll say this, my girl is an esthetician and she waxes my neck because I only get bumps in that area. It doesn't hurt. That shyt is smooth for some months. Problem is you gotta grow that hair out.
Yeah that's where I get them, on my neck but not sure about that waxing shyt breh lol.

shyt is so bad when I cut it bleeds lol.

Replace the blades once a month and keep them clean

Yeah I got the Philips for that but mostly use it to line shyt up and trim my goatee. Would you say the Philips Norlco architect is good or do you not really know?

Its water proof, has a charger and comes with a couple different guards and also a nose hair attachment.

HELL NAW!!!!!!!

I don't make money from Andis, but I'm a Black man that has gone through trial and error and severe razor bump problems growing up.
Wahl and Andis make products designed specifically to cut our texture facial hair .
The andis outliner is the gold standard.

I don't trust anything with shaving heads like this Phil Norelco Arcitec.........in my opnion, you are ASKING for bumps using that. Read my posts about the subject....my dad used plastic Bics, the standard Gillettes shavers, and things like the PNA with no problems.......but I can't use any of that stuff and advise bump prone dudes to stay clear of them.
