Buy a double edge/safety razor. Get a few different types of blades, find the one that works best on your skin along with a good soap that does the same. The key to all of this is an alum block:

This right here shows you exactly where you're lacking because the places where it hurts your face are where you're messing up your technique and that leads to bumps/irritation.

It might take a bit of time to find the right combo for your skin but when you do there is nothing like it as you look super crisp, face is glowing and its much cheaper that multiblade carts plus you don't get any of this:

Bumps occur due to those multiblades as each pass = 4 or 5 blades scraping against your face and they've got no precision/weight behind them and the tinned gels don't have the same kind of glide as a soap you lather yourself. I wouldn't use one of them setups now if you paid me.

Learn the layout of your face, which way the hair grows where (Alum block, remember?), go with the grain using quality blades/soap and you're good. Anything less is an insult to yourself. If you're bumped up now, grow your struggle beard to let it all heal first and once the skin is cool then do what I said in this thread and you'll see how easy it all is with the right tools.

The most effective way to address razor bumps would be the use of single blade razors. I can attest. I switched an experiment this year and the razor bumps have disappeared. I cut with the grain and switch out my blades once every 5 or 6 shaves. I am bald with a goatee so I am shaving my head and my face with the razor, with no issue. See the info I got from the internet below:

"Through the past few decades, men were led to believe that the use of a multi-blade razor is the best shaving method. That may be true for guys who want to finish their shave in 30 seconds or less especially on Monday mornings, but it definitely won’t work for black men who have curly hair.
The problem with a multi-blade cartridge is that the blades are too close with each other. There’s not enough space between each cutting edge. The razor thus is unable to cleanly cut the hair.

For guys with curly hair, the use of multi-blade razor can be problematic too. While a multi-blade cartridge can give them a close shave, the use of such razor also increases the likelihood of their hair getting caught underneath the skin and becoming inveterate. The irritated hair follicles may then swell up and form red razor bumps.

A double edge safety razor, meanwhile, makes use of a single blade that passes through the skin at a more comfortable angle. The blade is able to cut the hair cleanly, without pulling excessively pulling or grabbing the hair. The single blade razor may not look sexy or contemporary by today’s standards, but it’s very effective and safe for black men. It is also the reason why black guys a century ago didn’t have razor bumps."

We all have different skin and are susceptible to cuts, bumps, and irritation in different ways

I have bald head and rock either a goatee or stache/chin hair combo. Personally for the past 6 yrs, I've been using the Up & Up Twin Blade Disposable razors from Target and use Gillette sensitive skin shave gel (green can). I ALWAYS SHAVE WITH THE GRAIN. Them commercials with white dudes shaving with razors against the grain aint for brehs or folks with sensitive skin.

I clean my head with witch hazel OR use this Dare To Be Bald after shave lotion. I think somebody from here recommnded it a while back and I havent strayed from it.

One of my boys told me to cop the Wahl Flexshave for shaving my head so I'll probably check that out in the next few weeks

This facts unless you got grey. If you’re able to grow facial hair and don’t have any as a black man you weird and everyone thinks you’re a cop or in the military

Mine connects for the most part. I’m like 85% of the way there. Just giving it time.

Just copped some “Wild Growth Hair Oil”. Tryna fill in some light spots.

Then rub your face with rubbing alcohol everyday.

Everyone is different. Using rubbing alcohol was drying my skin and causing bumps when I've never had them before.

I have to be sparing with that stuff

Clippers like everyone else suggested. Clean them with the spray after every use. Then wash your face and put some witch hazel, coconut oil, or aloe gel to clean and heal skin.

I use Andis or Whal outlines the lower the number I think the closer the cut (double check that cause I'm not sure).

Im 75 percent. How long should I wait?

I give it 3 or 4 weeks and after that point I usually get pissed and just cut it lol.

Also does that hair oil work?

If your work doesn’t require you to shave then I’d say go as long as you can. Just trim.

Per my friends, the wild growth oil helps stimulate the hair foliciles. I have some places that need to fill in.

I do have a few “smooth” patches under my chin with no hair at all. Think it might be genetic. I just comb the hair to hide it.
