LOL@ anyone thinking that dudes are just gonna take another sport over football.

for 90% of football players its their only option. Most football players just ain't built to play other sports.
maybe a handful can cross over.

But more ppl going to other sports just mean more openings for more ppl to play football.

if anything, this won't stop ppl from playing football, this may just lower the overall talent level.

if ppl REALLY cared there would be more focus on actual education and community.

UNtil ppl realize that the chase for wealth and money isn't all that its cracked up to me. Until ppl realize that being middle class is perfectly acceptable things won't change.

But ppl are to busy trying to one up the next dude that it just ain't gonna happen. Once we lose that mentality maybe we can move on.

we need to promote martial arts more...and I don't mean UFC style training or anything...but just to teach discipline, mental fortitude, fitness, self-confidence etc.....martial arts helps you in other areas in life....but there's no money in it so it's not as glamorous as football or basketball .....I'm putting my kids in soccer and martial arts
SO you are ok with him being kicked in the shin his whole life? shin's need to be protected too:troll:

A handful? Most of those at the "skill" positions could. And many others could as well if they started earlier prepping their bodies for it (i.e. NOT bulking up to play lb or d-line)

I was lucky enough to only suffer from a stinger and an ankle injury, never had any concussions or anything that I know of. That said, I have friends playing now that are basically old men every day except Sunday

a 6'2" dude that weighs 280 ain't playing basketball or baseball though.

most skill position players are to small to play basektball. Might have a chance at baseball though.

but when you factor all 53 players on the team, their actual body size, body type, mental accuity, plus all the other intangibles it really does limit the amount of players that could actually fit in to the other "major" sports.

I'm not sure why everyone thinks baseball is so easy to play. Sure playing outfield or DH are relatively easy, especially for great athletes. But the hitting alone is HAF. Not to mention playing infield has its own set of skills required.

Basketball is the same. Sure its easy if you got the right body type and size and you can bang on dudes at the Y. But NBA levels are another thing.

I would never let my kids play football or hockey the human brain is not built to withstand the trauma of the hits. I wish I would've known the effects when I was younger I've had concussions from football in high school but I'm thankful I never made it past that level think about being a lineman for 20 years of your life from high school to a 10+ year nfl career.

Football is dying slowly though...as society smarts up, and demands healthier food and less bullshyt all around...football is dead straight in the middle of a dinosaur's generation that is readying itself for extinction. I pray it doesn't happen...but the odds favor it heavily, only a matter of time before a death or paralysis on the field shuts this game down. Honestly that's sad to me cuz I enjoy it Sunday's...but then again how selfish of me....these are people's lives.:wow:
No it's not. We've had paralysis on the field before on all levels and deaths in high school. Football is just too interwoven in the fabric of America, like guns and apple pie. And often I would like to hear from those who are actually PLAYING football. Sports writers and reporters, and people who are sitting in front of a computer. But this is not your job. It's not your passion. Your opinion on it means far less than those who actually participate. Everybody has a different threshold of the risks they are willing to take in life. We need to stop pushing our own fears onto other people. We need to educate players on all the risks involved and the safest way to play, understanding that it will never be totally safe. Not sure why the same rhetoric does not surround auto racing. Drivers AND fans have died.

Football is not going anywhere because:

-Our society treats these players like Gods. So many are desperate to achieve that glory. How many times have we seen grown men in tears because they didn't make the team? How many times have we seen players so determined to play they will do sh!t like stand outside with a cardboard sign begging for a chance?

-The money. No its not as much as the NBA or MLB but its a lot more than most people make. Do you not realize, if it wasn't for the NFL, a lot of these guys would be asking, "Would you like to supersize that ma'am"? Or "the bread is in aisle 3 sir". And we all know that some of these dudes, like a Pac-Man Jones, would be in fukkin prison. No doubt in my mind.

-Dangerous or not, soooooo many people just absolutely love the game.

the NFL needs to get some of that magic healing spray that they use in soccer.

Couple squirts on to a torn ACL will have these guys up and running in no time.
