And here's the other thing: everyone ignores the fact that the people reporting these types of problems are almost all former NFL players. Guys playing against physical freaks in peak shape. If football was so damaging at the lower levels why don't we have entire generations of men struggling to think? Why aren't all my HS teammates dealing with health issues due to football? The game gets dangerous once you start dealing with 250lb LBs and 220lbs safeties running 4.4's

It's really not only the speed of the NFL game. It's the fact that Antwan Randle El was getting a sledge hammer driven into his skull for 25 years+ (pee wee, high school, college, NFL).

I know there is a parent out there that has filmed every second of their childs football career. I would love to see a lab of scientist use lifetime footage to calculate the amount of force that player has taken over the course of years. That would be a truly remarkable study.

Do you not get the points of him saying that if he knew this would happen, he would have signed with the Cubs?

ANY football player that tells you they didn't think they'd be broken after the fact is full of shyt. We openly talked about being fukked up when we were on my college squad. The day after my first full game. It hurt to be awake, but I was in too much pain to go to sleep. I immediately knew from that point the sport was gonna fukk me up. I was 13 then. You don't need a doctorate or extensive studies to know the end result. First time I was knocked unconscious I was 14 years old and I stopped tackling with my head after that because I knew. I had a teammate in high school that had the same choice as Randle-El, and IN HIGH SCHOOL, he said fukk that I'm signing with the Yankees because football is gonna fukk me up. Saying he didn't know is being intellectually dishonest especially in the face that football coaches told him he was too small AND baseball players making more money AND the fact that he could've done both during college.....or even went back to baseball after college where I'm SURE he knew it was gonna get rougher from there.

I read what he said. I'm just not pretending this nikka didn't know because everyone I knew and played with had already heard stories of cats they knew in the pros being in so much pain after a game they just peed or shyt on themselves in the bed because it was easier or straight up popping pills like M&M's just to get around in the off season. I HATE these fukking stories. This nikka even tried to throw his parents under the bus claiming they wanted him to go to school.....That's fukking dumb too because I played with former MLB players. Almost all of the contracts have a clause that pays for college if you don't make the majors and they give you stipends to live on throughout.

No sympathy from me. None.

I'm probably missing something but what's wrong with lacrosse?:patrice:

There's absolutely nothing wrong with lacrosse. That's long islands love right there. But to say that lacrosse is safer - eh :mjlol:.

I know goalies who've had their cups shattered trying to block goals. We all know what those rib checks look like after the game. We have stories of kids dieing from getting hit square in the chest with the ball. Lacrosse is dangerous and tough as fukk.

Football is banned in my house once I have sons. Never even letting my daughters date football players. Never. Baseball, Tennis, Basketball and LaCrosse is as far as it goes. Football and Hockey is banned

:skip: at banning Hockey and Football but not LaCrosse. Lacrosse is basically hockey without skates

A lot of Coli dudes said they'd let their sons play football :smh:

So I did some research and apparently not all retired football players report huge issues with their memory. Mike Mamula scored high on the Wonderlic, played 5 seasons with the Eagles and now is CEO in business.

I think the issue is that players like Antwaan Randle El were stupid in the first place, (17 on Wonderlic is below average) and probably spent too much money on drugs and alcohol. If you're stupid in the first place your memory isn't that great to begin with, so any drop in memory from doing too many drugs or drinking too much (both associated with memory loss) is going to really hurt
.
I'd like to hear testimony from high Wonderlic players like Mamula on this topic. If they aren't reporting many memory problems, then why should I stop my son from playing football? So long as my son isn't dumb, he'll be fine. And I'm not dumb so he is unlikely to be dumb.

Arthritis happens to everyone eventually so I'd let my son play football as far as this goe too. :yeshrug:

So why don't QBs like McElroy report issues with their memory? McElroy played until college. Where are his issues? What about Byron Rolle, the Rhodes Scholar? The dude was drafted and then went to medical school. Where are his issues with memory?

Where are all the smarter players reporting CTE and memory issues?

What is your question? The effects of CTE do not affect us all the same. Just like there are some DTs with arthritis of an 80yr old, there are some that are still walking around and playing ball on the weekend.

The absence of CTE in one star qb, is not the evidence of absence of CTE.

As you read this article, just remember that Antwan Randle-el has been dealing with this issue for years, but finally spoke up on the issue. Two days ago, if we were talking about this issue, you would've said "What about Antwan Randle-el? Where are his issues?"

Just because there isn't a new article every single day highlighting the post-career injuries of NFL players, doesn't mean that it's not something they are battling with on a daily basis.

The Yay
@yseJ the game is so p*ssy nowadays ain't it? fukking flag football.

Next thing you know retired players won't start forgetting how to take a shyt until they're 60 instead of 40. What's a little epidemic of degenerative brain disease? That's a small cross to bear for jacked up segments.
it is. again, plenty of sports where you wont get your brain hit from different sides all game long.

you want to have your cake (play football) and eat it too (not get hurt as much) :heh:

if you want to play a sport that is devoid of injuries, I recommend chess, volleyball and badminton

if you want a sport where big ass fukkbois destroy each other routinely, theres shyt like football, boxing, mma, and so forth

if you want a combination of football-like and safe, theres ultimate frisbee and actual flag football.

just dont make football into flag football or ultimate frisbee. football is way more than pretty ass throw by qbs. fukk outta here.
