Having integrity and mental fortitude is not looked at as a positive attribute in today’s society, so I understand your sentiment.
lol @ this bullshyt. How about having mental faculties? Is that a positive attribute? swore that’s what he’s tryna protect, his mental and physical faculties.

You’re way too concerned about how the media would be treating other athletes. Why would you let them affect your opinion on this? Also nobody killed Patrick Willis when he retired due to the amount of injuries he dealt with

Taking the side of calling out someone’s toughness when they are dealing with injuries is never the right side to be on
According to who? This is a 29 year old who said he’s tired of rehab so he’s quitting football. He didn’t mention CTE or head trauma.

This isn’t about the media per sè; people’s opinions in general would be different. If Boogie Cousins retired today it would be a thread full of people saying that’s what he gets for chasing a ring, being a team cancer, he’s always been selfish, he was fat, blah blah blah. The energy is NEVER the same. There damn sure wasn’t this type of reaction for Calvin Johnson. But I guess he didn’t play through any injuries like Luck :comeon:

I have no feelings towards Andrew Luck as a player or person; he didn’t move the needle for me one way or the other. He seems like a nice enough guy, which is why people are crying for him this morning. Amongst other reasons :sas1:

Patrick Willis was also not nearly as high profile of a player as Andrew Luck.

All of a sudden, Andrew Luck is the first football player to ever have lacerated kidneys, a concussion and knee and shoulder issues. You got to love it.

That’s been sports media since it started. Like I said, if this was Antonio Brown, Cam Newton, hell even Ezekiel Elliott. This thread and the talking head narrative would be totally different.
Breh, we are in a new Information Age, more and more high impact players are walking away from this game knowing the issues that await down the line and the NFL’s shytty care of themin retirement. Megatron, Pat Willis, Chris Borland, Gronk, and now Luck...all stars who had a lot of impact left who chose their needs over the bullshyt beat down body and mental state that awaits them in their 40’s.

Can’t belive how hard some of y’all cape for the nfl. NFL ain’t doing shyt for you, so why are you so hurt when a player in the league chooses to step away? There are 1500+ other players left for you to still “care” about..,FOH :camby:
As a football player, it absolutely does say something about his psychological makeup. In his own words, he couldn’t take rehab. Not getting hit. Rehab.
Way to take things out of context...dude clearly talked about consistently being injured and in PAIN

My post history shows I couldn’t care less about the NFL. I just want the energy and approach to be the same across the board. Antonio Brown threatened to retire due to his helmet, which is stupid to me, but clearly his emotional and mental health are tied to it. He didn’t receive this same sympathy :usure:

He definitely detailed his injury issues and his concerns about moving forward in life if he continued to play. It’s also difficult to compare a NFL player to a NBA player in this situation, because NFL injuries are damn near life threatening. Dude is taking care of his future, there’s really nothing to hate here. If Antonio Brown retired today because he was scared how football injuries would effect his future I would have the same reaction. I can’t speak for the National media, but I don’t let them dictate how I think anyways. Also Luck got booed off the field last night and people are calling him soft from what I’m reading. So it’s out there :yeshrug:

He made the right decision. Football will wreck his body and mental stability at minimum. Any smart professional football player knows if you can make it to the 2nd contract you check out soon after. If you value your quality of life. Then move on to business, broadcasting, or college/professional coaching if possible. You have to have a game plan going in.

This is such a terrible example...I won’t even point out all the flaws.

Have a hard time believing anybody else on that team would get that treatment. Maybe offensive linemen they really like.
Since when has anyone ever expected the entire team to get treated like the star QB who played while pissing blood? Are you fukking kidding me?

I'm sure a lot of other players have been hurt that bad or worse. And once again, don't take the statement out of context. Who gets QB money anyway? I have a hard time believing they wouldn't try to get some money back from any other player, besides maybe an offensive lineman they liked, or a tight end. The "wholesome" positions.....
