Imagine being a person who thinks that retiring after having, and playing through, lacerated kidneys and a fukked up ACL is somehow evidence of a lack of mental fortitude.

This is the problem with the sports media; most of it isn't quality journalism, it's just a bunch of entitled dudes who don't spend every day thanking God that they make a living by writing about something that is a fun escape from the real world sitting around passing judgment on athletes who have literally taken years off of their lives in some cases to play their sport at a high level.

All that talk and all the trash journalism out there ends up influencing some people who also like to talk about never quitting in some high-minded way like they really know all about adversity and overcoming shyt, but who in truth are just mad that their little fantasy football teams got fukked up because they drafted too early.
And if he comes back next year or the year after, then what?

Why are you asking this question like it's some sort of gotcha? If he does, who cares? Obviously it would mean that his body continued to heal and that he feels better. That doesn't change the injuries he's had and the fact that frankly, most people online who are trying to shyt on Luck for retiring after all of them would be claiming disability and getting government checks for life if they had just one of those injuries. :manny:

:stopitslime: “ who cares?” This is today’s society in general.

Let’s throw a big pity party for me because I’m doing what’s best for my body, but if I choose to come back and “wreck” my body again in a couple years, therefore negating everything I previously said, who cares?

Media will take jabs because moves like this expose how little professional football, and their job by proxy, matters to the grand scheme of life. They have to keep up the charade.

Nah, today's society is more about a bunch of lames getting online and casting judgment on athletes that they're jealous of from the safety of their keyboards.

This is a great point. Sports media is always the quickest media to talk about how essential it is, and it always comes from a place of insecurity.

I don't know why these dudes don't just enjoy the ride of watching games and talking about it for a living. Imagine being a talking head on an opinion show and wishing that you were taken more seriously.

All of a sudden, Andrew Luck is the first football player to ever have lacerated kidneys, a concussion and knee and shoulder issues. You got to love it.

That’s been sports media since it started. Like I said, if this was Antonio Brown, Cam Newton, hell even Ezekiel Elliott. This thread and the talking head narrative would be totally different.

OK, but we all know sports media is racist. What the fukk does that have to do with you acting like Luck retiring after all those injuries says something negative about his psychological makeup?

Sports media is full of garbage takes either way and so are the lames on the internet trying to talk about mental fortitude when they call out of work with a headache or a sore back.

Dude is a clown that doesn’t understand his point is dumb

There are very valid reasons why Lucks retirement is being taken the way it is.

As a football player, it absolutely does say something about his psychological makeup. In his own words, he couldn’t take rehab. Not getting hit. Rehab.

You’re way too concerned about how the media would be treating other athletes. Why would you let them affect your opinion on this? Also nobody killed Patrick Willis when he retired due to the amount of injuries he dealt with

Taking the side of calling out someone’s toughness when they are dealing with injuries is never the right side to be on
