Too funky? :what:

This is why rap music sucks nowadays,
Shot used to Sample soul and funk music.
Now it samples dubstep and pop.
White people ruin everything.
Y'all took nikkas like jackie Wilson and turned them into greenday.
At fist they copy us like Elvis and eminem. Then eventually they take over and move shyt in a whole other direction until shyt becomes unlistenable :scusthov:

I never in my life could understand the out of the blue phenomenon that blasted dre 1000 miles ahead of big in popular opinion. Big Boi is one of my fave on his own, but like other said, those two as a duo was just special, not to mention the variety (and depth) of their content :whew:

It's really sad that we even have to continue having this conversation. Any day one true blue Outkast fan knows they are the equal
Big Boi always was cold on the mic. ALWAYS. There is no Dre as we know him, without Big. They were necessary to each other. Honestly, Big was the reason some of their core fans kept listening to Outkast when Dre started to really get existential wit his rhymes (nyggas flipped out during the white wig, shoulder pads stage). Their identity started changing from southernplayalistic to atliens, but it was ok cause there was a balance still. They are a real group, where you feed off the other, collaborate on ideas and compete to make a song the best it can be. It's not like Dre just go in the booth and drop a 16, followed by Big, tell the engineer run that and wait for a magazine or blog say who was better.

If ya'll havent noticed yet, Dre is very, very self conscious about how his music is received (I really think this is why he doesn't want to do a legitimate solo). You know what gave him the confidence to be "that" Dre everybody loves? Big being the grounded one who, to this day, still represents the core of what Outkast is--edutainment music filled with sharp lyricism and boundless wit over banging melodic beats. Dre drops outstanding guest verses, but he is SPECIAL with Big. Is Dre better than Big? I can't say. I don't really know who Dre is without Big, but Big has done more than held his own.

Can't wait to hit up Centennial Park Sunday and watch them kill it.

The shyt going to be crazy Sunday I can't wait. I grew up on them nikkas knowing every song and every lyric. That's why I don't even waist my energy engaging in conversations with some these nikkas who didn't even start listen to Outkast till Stankonia. Sunday may be the last time we see these nikkas perform together again. I'm getting emotional thinking about it:mjcry:

The unique duo were creative with the ying and yang chemistry: Dre was the poet and Big was the cadillac pimping rhyme spitter. Many classic songs were made from their fused creativity. It's difficult for me to debate who is the better rapper between the two emcees because both rappers are different. Virtually, in the beginning Dre stood out more than Big Boi with his poetic flow, but over the years Big Boi became a master of his craft. His rhymes has gotten better and flow is sharper than his past skill. At the end of day, I appreciate both emcees. I missed the time when Outkast fed the fans timeless music. :to:

Dre always had the better fundamentals. He's simply too nice on the mic for Big Boi to compensate having a weaker voice, delivery and less charisma.

Crazy thing is Big has crazy charisma by himself but sit him next to Andre - Dre's the star.

Plus you factor Dre's best verses are more deep and spiritual while Big's tend to be hard flows, punchlines or in latter years crazy delivery - Dre just seem better.

If you take the 10 best 'Kast verses. Dre probably has 6 to Big's 4. But Andre's stick to the rib more .

Its NOT the fact of if Andre is better...it's the fact that big boi gets treated as a sidekick when it was NEVER looked at like that until AFTER the group disbanded and Dre stopped rapping...shyt..U let these nikkas tell it and u would never know that BIG BOI was the one who was the most sought after for features. .
this is one of the main reasons..dre quit rappin n tourin

jus off the strength how the industry treated hey ya...n was damn big boi..when runnin with this shyt..oh ohhhh

the whole statement in the original post from dre...is him finally ventin why he left the shyt alone..

big didnt understand it..but dre is a true homeboy...to benefit the relationship..let no bullshyt sabotage it...he stepped back gave his potna his blessings...and supported n did everything he could for him

dre quittin kinda blackballed anything big wanted to on his own..for some reason..

but soon as dre comes back...n wanna tour...everybody panties are moist..

This is the nature of hip-hop duos. One rapper always gets more shine than the other, Big Boi has been doing his thing for the past 15 years, he's a big reason Aquemeni was the album it was and has been showing out from Stankonia onwards. Big Boi is one of the best rappers out right now.

nah...see that nikka could've stopped touring and quit AFTER that tour....but he fukked Big Boi out of MILLIONS my nikka...that's not a good homeboy imo...and HE's the one who sat there and let the "aura" fester without coming out and defending Big Boi way earlier on and now he wants to say something when its damn near too late?...I mean I commend him but I think he's saying this shyt out of guilt more than anything else...

:what: son Big Boi had hits from that album too...Hey Ya was the biggest but nikkas was feelin Big Boi's songs too...they both still would've gotten love...Dre more but they still both would've gotten paid...u cant rationally tell me that making me lose out on millions of dollars is better than some imaginary "perception" that could have happened...and I mean MILLIONS fam...album sold like diamond....the perception happened anyway so it's not like him quitting actually helped Big Boi...he could've gave his boy that last tour...
