I like Briahna Joy Gray - she's one of the brightest people to come out of the Sanders camp in the last few years - and she genuinely knows her stuff.

Noam Chomsky has held a consistent position on virtually everything for almost 70 years now - and he's been validated or right almost the entirety of the time - her position is the same as a lot of #ADOS people - either "give us our concessions or we won't vote for you" which is admirable - but short-sighted. She actually sounds like a lot of posters on this site.

Voting for Biden as a preventative measure against Trump is a real thing - but she's right to question the actual extent of the difference between Trump and Biden - when outside of theatrics and open racism - they share a lot of core values.

But they no way in hell "won" the "debate."

Also the idea that America is further on long on a slide toward fascism than we were in 2005 is laughable - but it seems like a lot of people have forgotten the sheer insanity of the Bush Years - corporatism at that time was reaching a fascist peak.

These white liberals don’t give af about black people. They marginalize our struggles as “petty issues” and focus on the “big picture.”
Noam Chomsky is an anarchist :dead:
The "big picture" for him is the abolition of capitalism and class-society - including the end to the racist, imperialist and neo-colonialist project of the 20th and 21st century in favor of the means of production and free-association for people worldwide :heh:
I honestly recommend checking out his book Manufacturing Consent - which talks about the way media conglomerates develop the ways we think into becoming neoconservative and imperialist consumers.

:what: She is really the best that they have to offer???????

For a guy of Noam's chops, she should have known better to come with that lazy high school level argument about how we should cut off of our nose to spite the face

YES- Biden and Trump are similar on the core value economics, but this 2020 thing it far bigger than that.

Lets lower the level of crazy to normal and then chip away from there

One of her main points has been (and its been backed by a chunk of working-class and incarcerated Leftists) - that there is no material difference in their lives that will develop between the two candidates.

I disagree with that fundamentally because I'm well aware of just what will change with a Biden Presidency.

But its hard to tell disillusioned and angry people that - I have friends that still live in the projects who don't watch the news and until COVID-19 didn't see a single thing really change depending on the President. That's why the DNC has to be able to connect with the people who are checked-out -

She's making the same argument that people have been making for almost 100 years - she also pushes for community development of alternative programs, including education, healthcare, community defense, mutual aid, etc. - so I won't attack her for just opposing electoralism - she's really out there advocating for alternatives - but she is being short-sighted :yeshrug:

She's reference Du Bois' position as well as plenty of others.

Its clear that he is destroying even established norms of bougie white supremacist policies to the point where there is a difference.

100 percent, heck I am only voting in this election because of Trump, not because the Democrats represent anything better

Brie Brie?

:francis: For an hour?

I'd do the hour if it wasn't a griftng Blue Check.

Liberals due have an issue with this. However I think the current time were living in requires ALL of us to see the forest from the trees. None of the issues we want addressed will be acknowledged under facism.

Okay, then what was the excuse under Obama 2009-2016?

:unimpressed:

I'll wait. Because "not now" is always the excuse. Are we waiting for world peace and the ozone layer to close back up and to get all the plastic out of the ocean?

Chomsky is not a liberal in the slightest.

More accurately he is an anarcho-socialist

I literally hit the :what: when I read that response.

Dude basically just told us since he has no idea who Noam Chomsky is, he's just gonna make an uneducated assumption on his politics because he's a white dude that ain't a Republican and shyt on him. And hopefully it'll yield some daps in the process. :pachaha:

She's been making this point for like 6 years now - the point is that even at the extremes of the Trump Presidency the majority of the DNC refuses to budge on key issues.

Black people are getting slaughtered by the disease and they refuse to go all out for healthcare - a national showing of support for BLM has surprised the entire world - and they're still soft-shoeing on policing - corporations swallow up trillions in aid - and they refuse to cut them down.

She's saying (most of) the things activists have been saying for years - personally, I'm only voting for Biden because I need the National Labor Relations Board to have some rational people on it and the federal district courts are overrun with right-wing sycophants - but I can't say she's entirely wrong.
