oh we changing the rules now? nas comes out with illmatic
lets say in 1995 another rapper came out with the same producers and same feel as illmatic
you telling me no one would say "thats biting"

only since jay-z and beyonce has swagging jacking been cool/normalized

shyt was wack/corny until they did it smh

No, they wouldn't. I mean, how many Timbaland tracks were appearing on albums before Aaliyah? Who looks at other artists who had Timbaland production after Aaliyah as Aaliyah biters? Aaliyah and Gina Thompson were also among the first with Rodney "Dark Child" Jenkins production. Nobody looks at artists who had his production later as biters.

And the crazy part about it is Rich Harrison did like three songs for Beyonce spread across two albums. You're acting like he produced a whole Beyonce album.

This is exactly what everyone seems to gloss over, the girl CAN'T SING.

People confuse "Liking a Song", with the person actually being able to sing.

I like some Keith Sweat songs, but Keith Can't "Sang"...
Made some nice songs though

When has talent ever truly really mattered though? Hell, Aaliyah couldn't sing, but people now swear she was this huge superstar. Rihanna can't sign either.

Amerie was attractive, put out great music that dudes also fukked with, and had an aura about her. However, it wasn't a superstar aura. Her modern-esque New Jack Swing music was great, and gave off like 80s/early 90s feel good music, with a jazzy vibe. She was never going to be Beyonce, but she should have been bigger than she is. All evidence points to the machine not backing her. Hell, she was a hook singer for too long. I think her style is a victim of timing. At that point, R&B was going more Pop, and she was giving a throwback type of music. It was never going to really catch on mainstream. Ironically, I know more dudes that fukk with her album than chicks.

Breh Beyonce even wore the same outfit in her first solo video that Amerie did. She most definitely took her style and her machine as big as it was expanded it. Without that style Dangerously In Love would have been a solo Destiny’s Child album. She named the album after a Destiny’s Child song for crying out loud.
Daisy Duke Jean shorts and high heels were worn by every attractive Rnb woman from like 2000 to 2005. Which outfit? And which style did Beyoncé steal from Amerie that wasn’t already part of The female RnB tropes of the 00s?
