Beyonce is a master class in fooling people, just like her husband. She just does the equivalent of yelling on them records and people consider it a Whitney level performance. She would not have been a major solo act in the golden era of R&B. They would have heard her sing and said “we already have 3 of you singing backup for Ray Charles”

Man it’s one thing to like this woman’s music, but the hoops nikkas jump through to validate her are ridiculous. She’s already the top star in R&B and has been for 20 years. She does have critically praised projects but come on man, if you can’t see it’s because you don’t want it to be seen.

You can say this about MANY RnB stars in the last 40yrs. “Sangin” declined when RnB became more pop and hip-hop oriented. Hell, you can say the New Jack Swing era kinda sparked that. Bey can definitely sing.
