Amerie is dope, but this has to stop. Amerie was never going to be Beyonce. People harp on the 2-3 Rich Harrison songs that Beyonce had and use that as ammo to fuel these "Beyonce stole Amerie's sound" arguments. What they leave out is Beyonce had 3 other HUGE hits from the same album that had nothing to do with Rich Harrison. The Rich Harrison single from her second album B'Day wasn't even a big hit for her, but several songs that had nothing to do with Rich Harrison were.

Sure, Amerie and Beyonce were labelmates, but she was also labelmates with Kelly Rowland (who also had a Rich Harrison produced single) and J. LO (who had "Get Right" out at the same time as Amerie's "One Thing").

Amerie never had a big follow up single to her lead singles. Without a strong follow up, you aren't moving units. If you aren't moving units, the label isn't investing in you. Amerie was a gold artist. Nothing wrong with that.
