I don't even think Amerie wants to be where Beyonce is now though. She looks like she's living happy in her own bag doing books and being a pretty normal and relatable person. Beyonce is the biggest thing around but does nothing but work around the clock, and could never go shopping or eating without security and prep work.

Summer 2002 instumental sound like a more jazzy crazy in love demo even the percussion is the same
the point is Amerie had the sound first

Beyonce before biting from Amerie sounded wack as hell

2002 Beyonce first single that bellyflopped and she had to push her album back a whole year (look it up)

That version of the Amerie song is so cold man :wow:

Idon’t know where Amerie should be but I know she was killing when she was on. I bought this album with cash money and it was also great.

Amerie should’ve just kept on singing over hiphop instrumentals with hard drums cause she was doing great with those

I mean she had joints after 1 Thing. People be so stuck on that song. It’s sad what happened to her career though.

Man, woman, and child
oh we changing the rules now? nas comes out with illmatic
lets say in 1995 another rapper came out with the same producers and same feel as illmatic
you telling me no one would say "thats biting"

only since jay-z and beyonce has swagging jacking been cool/normalized

shyt was wack/corny until they did it smh
Your analogy doesn’t make sense. Based off what your saying anybody who hires a producer is biting unless it’s the producer’s first beat he sold
:heh:

The late 60’s to early 80s

If you want to be technical, begins when Issac Hayes dropped “Hot Buttered Soul”. Ends around the time instruments went out in favor of synths. You see a direct correlation with vocal quality and production quality. In a lot of cases a great singer doesnt even sound right over 80s production which is why most of your favorite acts from that time had awful music in that period.

When an artist like Diana Ross dominated

I respect Diana and she is an icon but she isn't half the vocalist that B is

To say B just screams is ignorant

The 90s was also a golden age for Contemporary R&B. The era you mentioned is the “Soul” era.

The only version that got any play was the single version. Summer 2002, as a youngster, I never even knew a jazzy version existed. And quite frankly, it’s sound wouldnt have been all that popular as the single version. The single version is the one that sparks that nostalgia. That “sound” doesn’t belong to amerie, anymore than “Juicy” belongs to Dre Dog outta San Francisco or B1 out of Mississippi. I guess biggie was biting the South and the Westcoast. :mjpls:
