i dont mind if the system updates on its own. the cons i see are:
- cloud gaming for single player games - my internet does drop out sometimes at random. when im online gaming this can be frustrating but when im playing a single player game, i dont currently have to worry about it. however, if single player games need to be on the cloud and if i am playing a single player game and it drops out I will be pissed.
- once a day verification checks - the main reason for the 24 hour check seems to be that it wants to be sure your not using a pirate game. thats the only logical reason for it. i dont see any reason for single player games to need to be connected every 24 hours. and truthfully, i have the internet, and it is extremely rare for my internet to not work for an entire 24 hours. but, this seems completely pointless. which leads me to my next point
- activation fees for used/borrowed games - what the fukk? seriously. and you can say, "but that has nothing to do with always online", gtfoh, that has everything to do with always online. if i buy a game its mine. if i sell it or give it to a friend as a gift or a loan, i dont want him to be charged the full price or any price for that matter to play it. if they dont want me to put it on my hard drive and then put the same game on his hard drive then they should have a way to block it being played on two different accounts, like maybe when its activated with the disc in one profile it deactivates it from the other profile, but i dont know how this would be possible, maybe they could innovate something to do this.
the thing is that console modding wont be necessary to pirate anymore. basically with the new technology, you will be able to upload your game to the HDD and then sell it or give it away but still keep and play your copy on the HDD. that right there is essentially pirating. instead of buying games you could rent or borrow them, upload them to your HDD and now you have your own copy without having actually purchased the game. that is what they are fighting. its a new form of piracy that wasn't really available until now. however, the way they are going about it, charging fees for used games is BS and just a way to make money. surely they could have implemented other forms of verification and blocking used games
