Nah that's not gonna happen. They couldn't charge you full retail again.

What if it was just a fee and the price still came in lower than a new game?

I gotta see their plan for used games cause as it stands they are saying "treat it as a new game" which realistically is the only thing that makes sense, otherwise me and a friend could go halves on a game then one of us pays a small activation fee and we both have the game. You see what I'm saying? They ain't gonna allow that shyt so instead at this point it seems as though they won't allow my friend to play the game at all without also paying for it, which surely stops piracy but it also stops loaning/trading/renting and selling second hand games

:snoop: Sony is a publisher

No shyt Sherlock. Didn't they have online passes for the multiplayer portion of their games? I don't see the issue with that. Just continue it.

But to make you pay full price again for a used copy to use it? And check in daily? Surely you can't be cool with that.

Don't wait till fukkin E3 to clarify this shyt. Clarify it.

Meach, they had 3 fukkin months since the Sony reveal to squash all these bullshyt rumors that ended up being true. What was the fukkin point of pushing back their conference only to confirm, ignore, or in some cases have no idea of what they really want to do? Heads would be rollin at other corporations for this kind of fukkery. The nerve of these clowns to say "yeah we doing this" is rediculous.

3rd console curse is real. :yeshrug:

it's my understanding that the game would be 'registered' to one console or the other. once the second owner pays the activation fee, the first owner no longer has rights to the game

It sounds like the game will be deactivated on your system once your friend activates it under his name. Or he could use your disc to get the data the. Purchase the full rights for the game.

They also said you will be able to sale/trade games online. I wonder if this goes for downloadable games too, in that case it would be pretty cool.

where does it say you have to pay full price?

Phil Harrison dumb ass opening his mouth.

Honestly, it sounds like MS wasn't expecting the backlash it is getting from this. This shyt has been rumored for months and they sat back, waited till the reveal, and did nothing but confirm it. And now that they've seen the backlash, they wanna backpeddle. Where was the common sense in the boardroom? The fact they mentioned NONE Of this shyt during the reveal just shows how they were trying to be sneaky with this shyt fam.

All of these are software solutions that haven't been set yet. They can change at any moment even after release. They probably have patents to file, contracts to sign, agreements to make, etc. before giving the full details.

The only difference is that Sony didn't get duped in to talking about it before they were ready. They had clear conscise answers that were vague enough that they can still work it all out on their own time.

This is a PR problem for Xbox for sure, but I don't think the user expierince will be much different between the consoles.

how would game rentals be affected by this? would it be like the online pass and you don't have online privileges or does the game not work at all?

Phil Harrison dumb ass opening his mouth.

this?

"We will have a system where you can take that digital content and trade a previously played game at a retail store," Harrison said. "We're not announcing the details of that today, but we will have announced in due course."

Harrison would not be drawn on how this worked, even as I suggested various scenarios. For example, I asked whether you would need to pay for the second-hand disc at a store and then pay a fee to Microsoft when you got home, a bit like an Online Pass. Harrison wouldn't be drawn.

"Our goal is to make it really customer-centric, really simple and really understandable and we will announce those details in due course."
