All of these are software solutions that haven't been set yet. They can change at any moment even after release. They probably have patents to file, contracts to sign, agreements to make, etc. before giving the full details.

The only difference is that Sony didn't get duped in to talking about it before they were ready. They had clear conscise answers that were vague enough that they can still work it all out on their own time.

This is a PR problem for Xbox for sure, but I don't think the user expierince will be much different between the consoles.

Bottomline, they should've shut their mouths. Phil obviously leaked some shyt that he shouldn't have and left MS in a fukked up spot. My point is that for them to still even consider this shyt is insane. Fallin on the sword for EA is assinine just for some DLC and Ultimate Team nonsense the vast majority don't give 2 fukks about.

You Will Be Able To Trade Xbox One Games Online, Microsoft Says [Update]

"But what if you want to bring a game disc to a friend's house and play there? You'll have to pay a fee—and not just some sort of activation fee, but the actual price of that game—in order to use a game's code on a friend's account. Think of it like a new game, Harrison said.

"The bits that are on that disc, you can give it to your friend and they can install it on an Xbox One," he said. "They would then have to purchase the right to play that game through Xbox Live."

"They would be paying the same price we paid, or less?" we asked.

"Let’s assume it’s a new game, so the answer is yes, it will be the same price," Harrison said.

ALL HE HAD TO DO WAS SAY WE HAVEN'T DECIDED YET. He obviously leaked some shyt he shouldn't have.

No need to be plea coppin for MS. Diarhea of the mouth was their fault.

It sounds like the game will be deactivated on your system once your friend activates it under his name. Or he could use your disc to get the data the. Purchase the full rights for the game.

They also said you will be able to sale/trade games online. I wonder if this goes for downloadable games too, in that case it would be pretty cool.

So each in visual disc will contain its own coding? That sounds like a manufacturing nightmare

Nobody said they didn't screw up the message. This thread is about gaming going forward and the fact that some type of "system" will become the norm regardless of the platform.

@Liquid said a while back it was coming. I still don't see what was so bad about the online pass. Console gamers aint PC gamers and you can't go from Zero to 60 just like that.

If buying a used copy and paying the activiation fee > the price of retail, that is asinine.

Using your Live id to play the game at a friend's house is okay I guess. But if he wants to borrow it and play under his own ID, he's fukked.

Gamefly, Gamestop, Redbox, are also all fukked with MS.

Won't shock me one bit to see the Xbox One section in Gamestop at the back of the store this fall.

They need to address this shyt before E3. I don't need to tell you that the backlash gets worse by the day. It was bad enough before the reveal and for it to MULTIPLY is pathetic. It just really shows how out of touch MS execs are.

3rd console curse....

GameStop said they are working closely with both ps4 and Xbox and they have agreed to let the console manufactures explain how it will work. Used games will still work. We just don't know exactly how yet.

And obviously they don't give a fukk about backlash or they would have said something a long time ago. People are talking about Xbox and as long as they show some good games at e3 nobody will care about any of this stuff.

Imagine having to pay an additional fee to play a game you already payed for because its always on, and now it doesnt work without the manditory "premium" update.

Please believe they give a fukk about the backlash. They just didn't think it would be this bad. These boardroom suits aren't attached to the real world. They think just because it's "Xbox" that the crooked shyt they try to slide in won't matter to their customers.

These fools in suits don't care and definitely see many customers as pawns and dummies. They think cats will buy it regardless just because of the name. Sony learned this gen dropping a 600 dollar console.

The key is not fukkin over those loyal to you. You already got them, but don't lose them. Trying to be the center of the living room is bullshyt. People aren't abandoing their smartphones, tablets, and shyt to do it on their TV. These nikkaz at MS aiming for the wrong shyt. They missed the boat on phones, tablets, etc so now they aiming for something else. Problem is the "living room" aint a big deal like it was years ago when they tried this shyt with WebTV. Apple and Google scare the shyt out of MS. They don't want windows and office (their bread and butter) to become extinct. They also want to beat those 2 to the punch to dominate the "Living room" but no one gives a fukk about the living room.

To basically become EA's puppet in doing their dirty work was a bad move. The resentment and backlash they are getting is justified right now. Unlike this gen, their won't be a 200 dollar price difference in consoles and a complex architecture to help MS.

The Xbox division needs to get their shyt together period.

I agree with most of what you said, but I don't think this decision was made by the xbox division. You think the dudes who make games and are in the culture weren't in meetings just facepalming at the idea? I'd bet my car that they were. I bet they kept saying it left and right, but got overruled by the big wigs.

It's times like this that I appreciate Nintendo's arrogance/stubbornness about certain shyt. They ain't trying to be an all everything system. Even since trading cards they've been all about games. WiiU might be meh, but it's the first time since virtua boy that they dropped a brick and they still might recover when the classics come out.
