UBI

Even if theres a work requirement for it. It would make people more likely to work jobs that they think are beneath them or only part time because they would effectively be making more than the job is paying them and would help alleviate economic anxiety

I thoroughly disagree. I’ve spent the bulk of my career working with human beings in work environments ranging from fast food to blue collar manufacturing to white collar finance. There are a lot of jobs that people will do only because of the money. Nobody is gonna clean toilets “just because” with UBI. It’s still work nobody wants to do.

Even the immigrants are ghosting their jobs due to shytty COVID protocols from America and lack of flexibility from working, standards. Even illegal immigrants are walking away from fast food work now, which is why places like McDonalds and Walmart are shutting down by 8pm on a Friday or Saturday night.

The old world you are thinking from pre-2020 is now dead and gone.
Exactly bruh, nikkas trying to push the immigrants scare tactics don't realize this

Also the one thing cacs go insane about is immigrants taking their jobs, like they literally will die over that shyt, so I don't see it happening without a huge reckoning

The illegal immigrants smartened up. In the information era, they too, refuse to be exploited for low wages anymore. Unemployment Insurance ran out 7 months ago and those positions in low paying jobs still are vacant.

I agree with this. The problem with these conversations is that you have to separate the lazy bums and entitled folks living off their parents from the folks that actually want to work and better themselves. Any type of success takes sacrifice and there will be competition. Thats the nature of capitalism. For you to win someone has to loose. That aint changing anytime soon so folks better get with it or get left behind.

The reason why younger folks also feel this way is cause in America you can be poor and live comfortable due to all our social safety nets. If those ever go away you will see attitudes towards working change really quick. 1st world struggles are nothing compared to 3rd world struggles. America isn't guaranteed to be a 1st world country forever. We have fallen behind many countries already.

I'm glad nobody who has contributed anything monumental has this mindset. :mjlol:

The days of people killing theirselves over a job that doesn’t pay the bills in the first place is definitely over with. That’s gone and won’t ever come back.

People in this thread, cannot fathom the change that happened the last couple of years. The old paradigm is dead and gone; its all about collective bargaining and fighting for higher wages from this point forward.

If getting UBI is contingent on working any job, people will be more inclined to take low-level jobs.

Unless there's a major economic crash, I don't think America will ever pass UBI. Too much racism. If Black people could be excluded, UBI would probably already exist.

As it should be. fukk these corporations making record profits while wages and benefits remain completely flat, talking about “nobody wants to work”, “everyone is entitled”.

As far as I’m concerned when it comes to employers; pay well and offer good work-life balance plus benefits or go fukk yourselves :yeshrug:

Older people who grew up working in a time when your dollar went somewhere but who also sat and took years of abuse love to call people entitled for not taking shyt. They can also eat a bag of dikks :mjlol:

I've left situations like that. I don't blame them. No upside, working like ten hours for some boomers that have no idea how to fukking use a computer and want to keep you at work just to work, all topped off with no mobility or chance to get up. It's all bullshyt. That's why I don't knock when bytches make an OF or when a dude rather be a content creator. That's not my lane, but I totally understand it. Corporate is a fukked up place, and often it leads to nothing despite all you give.

I remember the happiness I felt when I straight-up walked out of my last job. Life is too short to be miserable. The people before us had an economy where they could buy a house, car, have kids... we're lucky to get one of those without paying out the ass, despite working the same amount of time as they did. No point in putting yourself in a miserable fukking position while there's other places to go.

Some days I absolutely love my career/job, and some days I straight up hate it. My feelings towards my work comes in phases. There are times that I wish that I could say "fukk this! I'm done!", but I have an entire family to provide for and bills to pay. It's too volatile for me to risk starting over and entering another field. I don't know too many successful people that truly love their jobs, and I certainly don't know anyone personally that would do what they do for free.
:yeshrug:

Over the years, I've learned to appreciate my state of employment. I enjoy my career, but it can be frustrating and stressful at times. All of that being said, it puts me in the top 10% of earners, it's stable and will always exist (be necessary), I'm able to build wealth, and we're comfortable. No matter how I'm feeling about work, I realize that I'm blessed and I will not take it for granted.
:ehh:

:salute:
