It's quite the opposite. I don't think we're speaking as nit-picking WWE defenders, but people that are so put off by WWE's corniness that we don't want to see more of it with such a strong possible clean slate.
It's like how WWF was embarrassing in the early to mid-90s with the stupid cartoony characters, so WCW grabbed the 18-35 male demographic by introducing something modern and cool. WWE is hard to watch, so we're rooting for AEW to be fresh.
I don't know if you follow boxing, but it's like what's happening with the heavyweight division right now. It's been boring for as long as WCW went out of business so they're kind of parallel. Lennox Lewis was the last star, and since then it's been dominated by skilled, but some might say boring Euros, so it hasn't had that big fight feel for a while. Now that some heavyweight stars are buzzing again after so long, a lot of high hopes are being put into the guys vying to unify the belts right now.
So I just think we're all hoping that this shot the Khans are taking leads to "bringing the heavyweight division back", so we can get another mainstream product where the whole product is cool and there's less of the same old corniness to look past.
