Yep I think @Jmare007 said it best: this promotion, at it stands right now, even with their talent pool...is not for us. They're building it for the indie fans who love corny, nudge-nudge, wink-wink cac humor. I don't get why they'd do that. Most people already don't like wrestling and think less of it, now you got some homo bullshyt with Joey Ryan on mainstream TV? People would be flipping the channel so fast.
For sure, bruh. And this is bigger than my own personal tastes too. I don't think any company can hope to compete by only have bland, corny white dudes. In the internet age you gotta have some flavor and nuance to your product. They're already going to get the indie geeks, but hopefully they do something different -- especially since they're saying wins and losses will matter.

I'm all for a sports presentation with storylines, but shyt like lollipops with dikk-based offense or spamming superkicks just to be funny isn't gonna do it homie.

I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now but yeah that College Cac humor shyt will have AEW folding within a year. Hopefully they’re truly serious about this.

I highly doubt Joey Ryan of all people will be at the center of AEW
Joey Ryan is the most glaring example, but he's not the only person I'm talking about. I'm talking about the "corny, nudge-nudge, wink-wink cac humor" like another poster put it. That's kind of the tone they've promoted thus far, so I'm just saying I hope they balance out the presentation, in addition to continuously signing dudes more in the vein of PAC and Pentagon Jr.

Lucha Underground does a good job of setting its own tone, for example.

I think the industry is going to get behind them as a strong #2 on some WCW shyt more than we even expect. It's the perfect time for AEW to be doing what they're doing, and they have the checkbook to pay people what they're worth, in addition to lots of backend incentive and a more reasonable schedule.

They're sending a message by opening in the same building where Tyson fought Holyfield and Manny fought Floyd, so they're coming out the gate as a force and not on some leap of faith, build with us type shyt.

It's bout to get exciting.
