And Cam was still only a rookie.

It's not like he was the only player even in the last 5 years that has thrown for a bunch of yards on a team with a losing record. So why single him out? I'm sure he has his reason, which is why it looks bitter.

I think he has a reason too, Cam's was the most recent incident of this happening.

Usually people talk about the most recent even that has happened.

I`m with the idea he shouldn't have singled anyone out, no need for that. But I`m not with the fact that there's "more to it" or he had "a reason coming from a deep place".

He also should have taken into fact that he was a rookie, playing for the worst team in the league the season before like what NYC Rebel was saying. That should neutralize everything.

Would you cut the shyt, where am I discrediting cam Newton at all? You're so homotionally defending the guy that you can't even notice nobody is attacking him, hell everyone is praising him.

This is where I question some of you posting in here.

Well this really wasn't a calculated statement was it?

He was talking with reporters about numbers, he wasn't writing a a thesis paper here.

Hell, tweets have more calculated thought than Alex's statement here.

Wait, Alex Smith threw for 4,000 yards and ran for another 700 with 14 TDs as a rookie?

Oh no. He's the bum who threw 1 TD vs 11 INTs as a rookie. My bad.

If Cam Newton was to suddenly become a free agent, San Francisco wouldn't hesitate to sign him and dump Alex Smith. Gore, Vernon Davis, Harbaugh's coaching and the defense covered up the fact that he sucks ass. Like someone said, Killa Cam's rookie year>>>>>>>>>>Alex Smith's NFL career

But to pick on a rookie though of all quarterbacks?

You don't have to be too calculating when you think of what Cam did, then remember it was only his first year on top of it.

It's like Alex Smith has been given 8 chances to make something big happen, but he doesn't want to give Cam 1. He of all people should know what Cam did under the circumstances was something that didn't warrant that kind of criticism.

Dude he wasn't picking on Cam. What is all this sissy shyt of people acting like Smith is some bully.

He made a reference to him when answering a question about yards per game. Your missing the whole part of what I quoted. You sound hurt because of Alex's comments here. "Why Alex, why would you pick on Cam! He's just a rookie, leave him alone!"

Some of you are acting like he wrote a blog about how Cam Newton is over-rated

I couldn't stand Cam at Auburn and during the NCAA investigation...I still think he took money to play...but without him, they wouldn't have won a championship. End of story.

He is an incredible player...Alex Smith was a bust who had a redeeming year after being a bust in the league for six, it's laughable he'd speak on someone who actually came and did work the first year in.

And to talk about winning...that was clearly moreso because of Harbaugh and the D than his punk ass.

The nerve of this dude :russ:

dont really see how the convo continued after this was first brought up

This.

I don't really think it was Smith's intention to call out Cam Newton as much as he was just using him an example to his point. It's still stupid, but not what most people in this thread are treating as...

...at least as I read it. And obviously, the quote doesn't seem to have been placed in any sort of context anyway.
