this. especially if you was from cali. that stoner/cloud rap wave with Wiz at the forefront was. . but it was a very quick phase for me that ended as soon as that weed plate rolling papers came out.
exactly. it got to a point where you have to be in a certain mood to listen to that kind of music. i still revisit Curren$y's old tape from time to time. and if he come sout wit new shyt, i just download it and put it in a playlist that i only listen to when im high lolRolling Papers was dissappointing, especially after how great Kush and OJ was. I immediately got off that wave after that.
Curren$y is the only one I still have in rotation from that group. He actually has a solid body of work. Even with him, I have to be in a certain mood to hear it. That stoner rap shyt just doesn't stick.
ExactlyUhh no. Keef had about 20 videos on youtube before don't like. I remember @FreshAIG was posting about Shmurda before that shyt took off. I remember Drake on random Wanye mixtapes in 08 and trying to get that awful trey songz song on 106. I remember Cole name buzzing with the warm up because all the Drake stans flocked to him after he went with CMR. Kendrick was buzzing with the EP and OD, long before the Dre co sign(and we all know Dre doesn't get behind anything without any incentive) You are proving my point. Nobody in real life was fukking with his music until these blogs started slurping him and the label put out the 2 mil deal news to generate buzz. Labels paid their blog contacts to hype him when he was a nobody.
I never understood why A$AP Rocky got so much love and Mac Miller got so much when they were basically the same artist when they first came out.
