I think his albums post Fishscale undeservedly catches flack from some Ghost fans and needs to be revisited. ALL of those albums still got general love from hip hop critics, but it always seems like Ghost fans are seeking that old, Supreme Clientele style that he only really used for about 2 or 3 years of his over 2 decade career. More Fish, The Big Doe Rehab, Wizard of Poetry, Apollo Kids, and 12 Reasons to Die are all solid albums. And people also have to realize that two of those are basically mixtapes of throwaways (More Fish and Apollo Kids).

It's not so much that his post-Fishscale work is wack, but besides Wizard of Poetry, it's clearly uninspired. Big Doe Rehab is a dope street album, but Ghost was kind of just going through the motions. He could make that kind of album in his sleep. Wu Block, Wu Massacre, Apollo Kids etc are just watered down versions of Big Doe Rehab, imo.

EDIT: I really wonder where Ghost would have went, creatively, if the reception to WOP would've been more positive.

:pacspit:@you lames....pay homage respect to one of the Gods of this shyt :birdman:

Well the majority of the dudes posting in here agree that he's a within the greatest 15-20 to ever do it. It's kinda hard to sh!t on the God when you consider the amount of quality work he has put out in his career.

No one has even attempted to respond to that post from @BuddahMAC
Dudes are either bringing up sales or just trolling.
Thread would take an interesting turn if someone actually posted a coherent and thoughtful rebuttal to that post. I don't know that that's even possible though.

I see what you're saying. I do think that Ghost kind of coasted on those albums you mentioned. The thing is...Ghost is so dope that even when he's coasting he's better than most MC's.

Again, ALOT of the Ghost material released post Fishscale were leftovers for other projects. I don't recall if he ever explicitly said so, but I believe he threw More Fish and Apollo Kids out there in an attempt to expedite fulfilling his Def Jam obligations. Those 2 are really mixtapes.

And I agree with you that he sounded inspired on Wizard of Poetry. That is a gem of an album and I still can't believe that some Ghost fans absolutely HATE it. Grown man album with probably only one bad track (That Ron Browz auto tune bullsh!t).

And most of ya'll already know...I think 12 Reasons was one of the Top 2 or 3 albums of 2012.

THIS, for the most part, we can agree on.

And yeah, I recall Ghost saying that Apollo Kids was just a mixtape, and the real album was Supreme Clientele II.

More Fish had some REALLY good stuff on it, IMO. It's no Lost Tapes, but it's something.

And I swear I play Alex dozens of times a month. Ghost storytelling acumen :wow:

"Alex" is one of the dopest stories I've heard. Always wonder what he meant about "never gave a fukk about that MC beef in Queens." Was that a shot at Lord Superb?

I gotta break this album out after work.

Lol. I don't know if that was a shot at Superb, or not. Maybe some beef between some Queensbridge n!ggas? :yeshrug: I ask myself what that was about everytime I listen to the song :heh:

I mean...can dudes name an MC right now who coulda done what Ghost does on this track? The characters, the off the wall dialogue he injects...the story concept. This dude literally made a track about somebody stealing this Colombian gangster's script for "Ray" the movie. Ghost had Alex having Ray Charles reading his Ray script, in braille, on a Cali strip in 1998 :bryan:

In regards to Raekwon and Ghost who's people preference? Ghost?
To me it's ghost no contest whatsoever.
If someone picked Rae over GFK i'd be shocked to hear why. On OB4CL ghost is superior, and Rae has no SC.
Not to turn it into a rae vs ghost thing
