Not once in the OP did he mention that the music was good. Not a dig against Dre or the OP, just an observation.

pretty much

lmao at "the sonics" "the mastering"... there's a place for that... but are we discussing an album or a speaker audio demo

all that technical shyt can be on point and still add up to garbage art... hell, its starting to sound like people are forced to overemphasize "sonics and mastering " when describing dre cause the art itself is so damn flat

Bro, this production is a f*cking MOVIE! I never knew my ears can hear all these elements at the same time. The sonics on this are so damn clean and tight, it's absurd.

As a producer for 25 years, after hearing this, I wanna quit and never touch my equipment again.

The mixing, mastering, instrumentation, sound selection, placement, arrangement, space is so immaculate. I don't know enough English to describe how frustratingly dope this record is.

I listened on my SONY WH1000XM4's. Just lied in bed with the lights off and zoned the f*ck out. I don't even smoke. I can't imagine what this album sounds like while high.

No one is making beats like this. No one's making albums sound like this. Sh*t is phenomenal.

All this.

Contrived not organic
If he didn't keep promoting Detox album, while never releasing it, I think the public would have accepted this and Compton albums a little better.

But when Dre kept telling everyone how Detox will sound like the greatest shyt ever, he set the bar on himself too high.

When the Kush dropped, it didn't feel groundbreaking or anything like that. A decent Dre track with big budget. But so much of his music got uninspiring since then, now people look at tracks like Kush with great nostalgia.

He lost his edge long ago. His hunger too. All this shyt is very safe. People masturbating about the mixing when the songs are sterile and formulaic

That's what I'm saying. He's been so meh for a while that even his older mediocre stuff is now looked at with nostalgia.

Objectively speaking even his Chronic 2001 had some fillers, but at least he'd still keep producing some really good hit tracks for other artists since that album. From time to time.

But for the past 15 years? Nothing really groundbreaking anymore.

you're a Drake fan, you don't need to be criticizing any artists' music :russ:

Okay. Ha ha.

I'm a Dr. Dre fan since 1992 and I won't revisit the album.

It's not Gangsta rap. It's some funk/soul/pop.

That Drake/ Conductor single and video was better and more hardcore than missionary and I'm not a huge Drake fan like that. I'm not even the person you replied to. I'm adding my opinion on top.

Yup. Chronic 2001 had crazy fillers.

1992 Chronic and Doggystyle is some of Dre's best work to me. And Relapse.
