In an ideal world you're absolutely correct. That's the whole point of sovereignty -- where governments are in charge of things happening within their borders. Unfortunately, the US has a foreign policy where they routinely violate international law and meddle in the affairs of other countries. America is a quasi-empire. You can't do anything without their permission and support.

Gaddafi tried to create a pan-African currency backed by gold, thereby, becoming independent of white supremacist fiat system. Hillary Clinton, through the Clinton Foundation, NATO, and the French had him taken out. Many people don't have a problem with it because they've given into the 'evil dictator' narrative that the western media loves to use on puppet heads of states who go rogue (Hello Saddam).

This is worse than the "Michael Jackson was killed because he was trying to buy his masters" rhetoric.
The Arab Spring was indeed organic, and anti-Gaddafi support was not based on this stupid gold-backed currency bullshyt, its so much bigger than that. The level of the US-backed Shah big.
Gaddaffi's crackdown was fukking brutal, as was Saddam's, it wasn't al-Assad bad, but the shyt wasn't pretty and could easily classify as crimes against humanity.
I have had high hopes for Arab Socialism and African-regional Pan-Africanism/African Socialism, but the Soviets fukked it up, and the leaders all ended up commiting ethnic cleansings and small genocides.

I love the AU and want it to succeed, especially with seven African states with burgeoning economies, and five more still growing, but there need to be much stronger militaries a part of each of their countries before this can fare as well as the leaders hope.

It would be cool if we all could submit DNA from both sides of the continent and send folk here across the ocean to visit the tribe or region from where they came.
