Smilies again...Lot of the neighborhoods mentioned were and are Caribbean enclaves....and at roughly 29:30 minute mark there is a 5 minute segment about King Charles...how about you watch that segment ?
And remember, at the time covered in this doc. hip hop hadn't formed as a genre yet.
It formed later....but during this segment it was dj's rocking jams and parties..

Again, what are the caribbean elements. I've cited all of the AA elements. I don't hear no caribbean in early Hip Hop nowhere.

I'm not denying that some of these nikkas parents came from the caribbean, but where is there culture and influence.

Disco, Soul, Funk, rapping are all AA.

Above the fray.
They got Future in the thumbnail like he not African American:dead:

I can only imagine the :duck:running through this one.

0:11 in and these nikkas already said there would be no Hip Hop without caribbean people:comeon:

That video disrespectful as shyt to African Americans. I can't even finish this bullshyt.
This post is juelzing

You used Future as a distraction to avoid what the content of the video was.

I just watched it and the information in it sounds similar to what I wrote in the other thread...bolded...

I ain't here for shenanigans. I just asked a simple question. Why the fukk do you infest message boards that are centered around AA culture and events but always talkin down on nikkas. I guarantee there is a message board out there dedicated to every one of you nikkas. Why come to one centered around african Americans?
Haitians is cb4 too. I don't give a fukk how many episodes of Good Times you have recorded on betamax nikka you'll never be us.
Good Times on betamax line is funny.

I think this thread was hovering above the level you're comfortable communicating at, so you're attempting to bring it back down to a speed that's good for you. Which is why EVERY sentence you used in your reply has a slur in it.

Not sure what part of the country you live in, but since before your father was born, African and Caribbean immigrants have been coming to this country. Those from larger metro urban areas already know and have seen this firsthand. Here in America, these Blacks folks from various backgrounds have had cultural exchanges, inter marriages, etc etc. for DECADES.

Hip hop is the most notable evidence of this cultural exchange...as Flash,Herc and bambaata are all of Caribbean descent..as are LL,Pepa,Biggie,Krs,Dougie Fresh,Heavy D,Slick Rick....Chubb Rock,Wyclef,Dove from de la soul, etc etc
anyway...the 3 founding fathers of hip hop brought caribbean influence and added that to distinctly AA elements such as "call response church songs" the "dozens" James Brown's band, southern Black preacher mannerisms/style, etc etc and helped create hip hop culture in NYC with AA,Caribbean,PR kids.
Hip hop is distinctly an American art form created HERE from different elements from the diaspora. Non AAs have contributed to the general American culture.here as well.....plays,books,films,art,politics,science,academia,media etc,etc

Was Combat Jack a cb4 for hosting a hip hop centered podcast platform?
Is Lil Wayne a cb4 for wearing Haitian flag bandanas?
Are Americans who follow Rastafari cb4?
Are AA college graduates who wear kente cloth trimming on gowns cb4?

Maybe in the world you imagine or the actual circle you run in....people come here and stay to themselves, only mingle ,marry.associate with people from same home country or heritage, but that's not the reality.

The fact that they got Future in the thumbnail is a testament to the amount of lies and overall lack of credibility in the video. I made it halfway through and it was utter bullshyt.

Did you watch the segment and hear the ACTUAL pioneers discuss King Charles(of Jamaica)? THEY pinpoint specifically what his influence was.....

Grandmaster Flowers was AA...the documentary give him his full props....he lived in a heavily West Indian section of Brooklyn. they mention him SHUTTING down Caribbean sound systems during Carnival the way Radio Raheem battled and beat the Puerto Rican guys' radio in Do the Right Thing. That W is in fact what gave him his name.

You saw an out and you took it. You asked what Caribbean influence? the dude posted a video of ACTUAL hip hop artists and icons detailing the exact influences....the demographics of the neighborhoods that birthed the culture correspond with what is being said in the video....with AA, Caribbean, and PR kids coming together.
Instead of responding to this footage from the horses' mouths..........you prefer to run.

Again, this Dougie Fresh mainly speaking in the footage....not some white reporter outsider....not somebody whose opinion on this topic could be dismissed.
I guess you really had no other choice, but to juelz.

It wasn't an out. It was indication of the bullshyt to come. I watched most of the video and it was bullshyt.

Eleven seconds in and a nikka said there would be no Hip Hop without caribbeans, complete bullshyt.

I posted the response to that video.

Juelzing is posting a response you made last week which didn't answer the goddamn question even then.

You still ain't gave an example of what caribbean people brought the islands and used to create the music.

I can tell you what parts of my culture were used but somehow you nikkas can't do the same on your end.

nikkah they beat and raped your grand parents into learning that language
And the africans sold my ancestors to be beat and raped, so they could get rum and commercial goods. SMH.
So why should I learn language of those who contributed to that or the language of people I'm not even attached to at all, but who just have the same skin tone?

Have you ever traveled outside the US? Have you ever been to Africa? There's an AA breh on this site that had a whole thread talking about going to South Africa for work and he had a goddamn ball. Africa is more welcoming than I think alot of people on this board would assume.

Speaking as a black man born and raised in america (with african parents) this is a difficult place to call home man. You might be surprised if you travel a little and find that you're more welcome elsewhere as long as you come through showing love and respect. But to each his own.
Yes I've travelled outside the US.
I literally have said nothing negative about Africa or Africans.
Yet here you are getting in your feelings, trying to make assumptions about me and trying to claim I'm ignorant of africans, because I said Africa is home to africans, but the US is my home.

Why does that statement make some of you so uncomfortable?

Didn't rapping get its influence from toasting which is from Jamaica?
Naw, toasting is African American.

I don’t really care much for the hip hop debate to be honest, but toasting is something that LONG predates hip hop from AA culture, people acting like it’s something we didn’t do till the early 70’s in NYC of all places is wild if you really know the culture.
