you cant even agree on what your argument is. you said rbis are way more important than other more advanced and relevant metrics, but then you said berkman wasnt better than bonds even though he drove in more runs during bonds stretch. literally contradicted yourself in a matter of a couple posts

No I said RBI's are more important then advance stats lead on that doesnt mean the RBI leader is the best player. It just means that some people have a knack for driving in runs that you guys don't put into consideration.

As long as you understand that you're being willfully ignorant, sure we can agree to disagree.

Listen we can all agree to disagree you can all look at you bullshyt binders and look at statistics and I will go by what I see and know to be true some managers have had success both ways. Do you really think Jim Leyland sits there and thinks of adavanced stats all day probably not but hey Joe Maddon does and hes had very good succes so whatever.

Every manager in the league has a much more advanced way of looking at things than you do.

No one is better in "RBI situations" than they are with the bases empty.

people want to write off advanced stats and big up the "what Ive seen with my own eye" shyt while advanced stats is pretty much the same thing, only a quantitative representation of what people saw.

like I always would say, I would trust a PFF rating over most of opinions of people here. PFF guys watch every snap of every game for every player and grade each one of them. yall be on some "whiteboy shyt/:childplease:/stats are for nerds" but the fact remains that they do a lot of the same work players do in the film room....while u are on a couch half-watching the said football game and concentrating on one-two players.

when Ill ask u, how did the center do this game ? yall be on some :leon: shyt

But an advanced stat you would omit from this is a measure of how good that player really is with runners on base. What percentage of those runners are being driven in? Is he getting more RBI because he has a better "knack" or because he simply has had a lot more opportunity? I guess it doesn't matter, right?

anyone who doesnt acknowledge advanced metrics in baseball and football are just being flat out ignorant. although i use some "advanced" team metrics to help set lines in basketball (if you can even qualify pace of game and team off/def efficiency as advanced anymore because thats pretty fukking basic), the individual metrics in the nba are easily the worst of the big 3 sports, but still a better representation than the normal fan gets using the "eye test"

who has a "knack for driving in runs"

I'm done so say A-Rod and Jose Reyes batted in the same Lineup at the same spot in the Lineup I would put money on it at the end of the year A-Rod would have more RBI's :manny: I'm just saying.

Yeah, advanced metrics in basketball are far more problematic than in the other sports....and given the nature of the sport I think it's pretty much impossible to even come close.

That said, using PPG to gauge a team's offensive or defensive ability is nearly as dumb as using RBIs.

Individual PPG is pretty dumb too.

That's because ARod will hit for FAR MORE POWER. Not because he has a "knack for driving in runs"

Also, no one has ever said that Jose Reyes is better at baseball than Alex Rodriguez.

Far More Power to me equals more of a knack for Ribbies then a single slash base stealer type player.
