I'm done so say A-Rod and Jose Reyes batted in the same Lineup at the same spot in the Lineup I would put money on it at the end of the year A-Rod would have more RBI's :manny: I'm just saying.

Why would they have to bat in the same lineup at the same spot in this scenario? Earlier, you implied that the other conditions are meaningless and don't need to be measured or accounted for, hence there being no reason for advanced stats :wtf:

Does Lance Berkman have a "knack" for driving in runs that Barry Bonds didn't? Was his knack bigger or better than Barry's? [][]

Kinda reminds me why Kobe stans love using TS instead of FG% :pachaha:
When it comes to basketball, these stats are only about promoting an agenda.
It's far more useful in baseball though.

Far More Power to me equals more of a knack for Ribbies then a single slash base stealer type player.

so explain bonds not having more rbis than 11 players during his 4 year run of the most dominant hitting the game has ever seen. did bonds just not have as good a knack of driving in runs?

Far more power means he's a better fukking hitter. He's a better hitter when a man is standing on 2nd base. He's a better hitter in the batting cage before the game. He's a better hitter when no one is on base. He's a better hitter when the bases are loaded with two outs.

You haven't answered the question. Which players are we underrating by dismissing their knack for driving in runs?

This thread continues to prove that people who hate advanced stats are either protecting an agenda or are just too fukking stupid to understand them.

Alright I'll concede Advance Stats are not worthless but they are way to far looked into and totally takes the human element out of the game and thats where it really fails in my eyes. There needs to be a balance between the 2 of them it just urks me when people think the advanced stats are the only thing that matters.

No one thinks that.

And generally speaking, the people who create, improve and defend these advanced stats are FAR more passionate about the game than the random people dismissing their validity.

advanced stats dont take the human element out of baseball. they literally quantify everything you see on the field and do it far more effectively than anything else does

especially since baseball hitting pitching and fielding is something that was always quantified specifically for the long run

I mean you have averages, CS%, ERA, WHIP...and thats just the very basic stats, tip of the iceberg.

you can literally look the next day and see stuff like how a managers decision to sac bunt/intentional walk affected the teams % of winning the game. how is that taking the human element out of the game? it does the exact opposite since you can measure the value of virtually everything you see happen on a baseball field

People who dismiss them are often people who a) don't understand them or b) feels that they don't give enough credit to their favourite players.
