Right. That's what I was telling @Born2BKing when he was asking why Teheran wasn't in the game sooner, the Braves clearly don't trust him in high pressure situations. The fact they went with Sobotka, a rookie, over your opening day starter the past 5 seasons should tell you everything you need to know. Starting pitching could get deep and i honestly think we need 1-2 more proven guys

Folty
Newk
Touki
Allard
Soroka
Fried
Gaussman

They're gonna have to move a couple of those guys to get to a 5 man rotation and Folty, Newk, Gaussman are 3 more or less locks IMO

As for the starting 8:

RF (Do we resign Markakis? I doubt it, but we'll see)

I like the idea of moving Acuña to CF and trading Ender & letting Markakis walk for more power/speed

C: We resigned Flowers to a team friendly deal, but he shouldn't be a starting catcher. Suzuki is a FA, but we need more power there

3B/SS: Let Camargo/Dansby/Austin Riley fight it out, the loser is a super sub off the bench or is trade bait

Bullpen: Bring Kimbrel home, and get reenforcements in the bullpen to support Viz, Minter, Sobotka, Brock

Manager: Bring Snit back

I think we need to keep Markakis and Suzuki for short-term contracts. I honestly don't see us lasting in a bidding war with the Red Sox for Kimbrel, but I'd love to see him back. The biggest help we need is getting a veteran starting pitcher. I'm not sure who's available on the market, but that's the biggest hole on the team right now in my opinion.

Someone mentioned that Kurt doesn't want to split time again with Flowers. That may be the reason he is gone next year.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if McCann found his way back to Atlanta since he's a free agent after this season. He's completely washed though, but it'll be good to have him in the clubhouse since I can see him end up being a manager once he retires.

We need to make two trades and a major FA signing

Trade for a #2 pitcher if possible. Most of the time its not.

Trade for Buster Posey. We got a good farm system. I wouldn't mind trade Riley or Pache with some pitchers for Posey.

Sign Machado or Bryce Harper. We need another superstar if we want to go to the WS. We are too weak in terms of top tier talent outside of Freeman and Acuna. Albies has potential but he has aways to go.

I would prefer Carmago and Harper over Machado and Markakis

We just need to continuing developing our relievers. Put me on the train that Boston isn't letting go of Kimbrel.

Albies needs to work on that swing of his. Too many pop ups, as I believe he fell in love with the home run ball after his hot start. Pitchers figured out how to pitch to him. He can’t let his bro Acuna out do him

I think they're gonna look at the whole body of work...he's a plus hitter, strong defensively and his natural position is SS. Dansby might be on the outside looking in
Dansby’s defense tho... there were a couple plays in this series that rolled through gaps that I feel Dansby would have gotten to (like that Freese single that went up the middle to give the Dodgers the lead in game 4. Charlie just missed it). He’s grown on me. I’m not sure about Camargo’s range. He’s slow...

Agreed. With his speed, I wish he prioritizes getting on base instead of swinging for the fence every AB. Acuña made that adjustment halfway through the season, it would be nice if Ozzie follows his example. We need either he or Dansby to emerge as leadoff options to move Acuña down to 2 or 3 in the lineup (imo).

Not excited about bringing Suzuki back since we just resigned Flowers. We need more power out of that position. I'd be ok with Markakis coming back if we don't land a Harper or Machado level free agent, but don't expect first half/All Star Markakis numbers.

I wouldn't trade Riley for Posey. Riley would have to land us a front line pitcher/slugging OF/IF, he's our best prospect who hasn't played with the big club yet, we can get more from him than that

And Kimbrel's a FA...for the first time in a long time we have the money to go get somebody and I'd love to bring him back

The series was lost because we issued 27 walks and couldn't hit. Dansby is a .230-240 hitter, outside of his defense he's not helping us in the hitting department. Camargo is about Dansby's equal as a fielder and he's rangier. He's been a better player than Dansby the last couple years IMO but it's gonna be an open competition at SS. We need more offensive production out of that position

You think that we can get into bidding wars with the Dodgers, Red Sox and Yankees over someone like Machado/Kimbrel/Harper? Maybe I'm use to the old front office, but I can't see us landing any of them :francis:

Agreed on Dansby being a .230/.240 hitter. His ceiling is .275, and we can do a lot better than that. Camargo had to be hitting around .300 in the 2nd half, and he’s got some pop. He can get you about 20 to 25 homers a year.

Under no situation would I get rid of Riley this year. Well, unless you could land a Machado, but that’s it. We need to see how he performs with the big club.

As for Markakis, we saw him come down to earth in the second half. Need to keep that in mind when discussing possible contracts.

Brah he is no where near the player Acuna is, so he better get used to being outdone. Acuna is generational talent.

I agree with you guys, but at the same time, I guess I see more pressing needs besides infield. We need a catcher that is an upgrade offensively and/or defensively, more reliable bullpen arms, and power in the lineup. I’d be fine with Dansby as the 8th hitter next year if he’s the only guy batting under/around .250, considering his defense and upside. I believe there are intangible clubhouse factors with Dansby, too. I’d like to see at least one more year to see if he can get his offense going.

But we do need to figure out what to do with Riley.

If there is something this Dodger series showed is that it’s ok to have talent on the bench. We might have to try platooning more next year.
