I believe it's obviously for their next console which should be releasing before next COD since they're taking a year break. Hopefully, the console is as strong as series s.@ that Nintendo announcement when they don't have a system that can play a modern COD. The only thing the Switch could handle is COD Mobile...which if they're saying they made a similar offer to Sony, was probably for COD Mobile as well.

But honestly Sony has the IP and talent to create their own CoD.

Socom wouldn't fill the gap, that would be competing against rainbow six siege if anything. It's a tactical shooter.

Deal or no deal nobody got time for the complaints from Sony. Nobody told Sony to have so much interest at stake with a third party shooter. The deal is done. Stocks reflecting the change in Japan and Steam is on board. Sony need to suck it up and fine another outlet to obtain 400 million.
You can't complain about a deal affecting you when the opposition spending 70 billion.
