Not sure if sarcasm but these clowns never try stuff like this anywhere but at places they know for sure won't have folks walking around armed like that. Schools. Theaters. Etc.
For some odd reason they don't go near indoor gun ranges.
People get shot at gun ranges all the time, even that sniper from the Clint Eastwood movie met his end cause some crazy soldier off'd him and another guy at a gun range. But the point of mass shootings is either to be at the place that upset you (your school, your workplace) or to be where the crowds are (a school, church, club, theater, concert). Why would someone just randomly have a mass shooting at a gun range?

not really, when I was there I knew a guy(he hunted alot) who had dozens of guns.
It's just that they're not big on carry/conceal in Canada. If you hunt it's a different story.
For the most part they dont run with anyone.
The average mass shooter is a fukkin awkward goof, I seriously doubt most of them could even approach a relative to borrow a rifle and not look suspicious as hell. Now there are exceptions but alot of these weirdos especially the ones that hurt kids, would be out of options if they couldn't just walk into academy and buy a gun.

The whole point of a mass shooting is to kill lots of people, they don't have lots of people in a gun range at any given time like a school, or a concert.
Also, if there was a mass shooting on a military base, what makes you think there is anywhere off limits?

There's been multiple mass shootings at military bases, there's been multiple mass shootings of cops, there's been mass shootings at political events where cops and armed security are everywhere.....I mean come on now, gang bangers come out firing at other groups of armed gang bangers all the time. Anyone who thinks having guns is some sort of magic "no shooting zone" solution is at odds with reality.

From the various proposals I've read, the one that makes the most sense is requiring a background check with references, where at least 2 references have to sign an affidavit that they know you well and answer certain questions before your permit is approved. One of the reasons this has a much better chance of working is that A) a lot of these mass shooters were already suspicious as fukk long before they went off, but people just "didn't think they'd go that far" and B) they're the types who don't want anyone in their life to know what they are doing. I think those two factors would have a chilling effect on at least a portion of the shootings, not even counting the ones who wouldn't have passed the mental health/criminal background checks anyway if background checks were actually rigorously enforced.
Beyond mass shootings, that would also stop a decent number of crimes of passion and especially a lot of suicides. There was a great article in the Oregonian some years ago regarding how many suicides are committed by people who just recently bought the gun specifically for that. They could "try something else", but often people are reluctant to try a different method and things like "taking pills" have a much lower death rate.
First off, no, not everyone goes shooting with someone. Overall most people don't shoot, even in the most redneck rural places the gun ownership rate is only around 50% and people who don't own guns going out to shootings isn't that common.
Second, even if you know someone with a gun, you have to explain why you want it. People don't just lend their gun to someone else for any fukking reason, not even a relative. And most of these mass shooters don't want anyone to know what they're planning. If your cousin comes to you and says, "Hey man, I need your AK-47 just for a day, I can't tell you why and no you can't come with me", you think they're gonna just give it over? Especially if the shooter was a weirdo or depressed or angry all the time? You think there aren't shooters who wouldn't even have the guts to say that to someone they know face to face?
The fools in this country are just plain fugging insane. This Country has more police than at any point in it's history yet there is more crime. So clearly crime is just the bullshyt excuse for Republican politicians to get the citizens on board with flooding cities and States with guns. Dude had a masters degree. I'm going to possibly blame meds in this case. I had sinus infection and dr gave me some stuff with side effects of suicidal thoughts. It was wild bc by day 3 i could tell my mind was throwed and wild thoughts were passing thru. I stopped taking the meds.
