Black people are the only people I know that shyt on their own people. Don’t matter who or what it is. Like I said, Hispanics don’t do this with Selena. Cacs don’t do this with fukkin James Dean or Jean Harlow or any of their other folks that died prematurely at the apex of their stardom. Why nikkas the ones that gotta be critical? Makes no damn sense.

Aaliyah’s contributions to the game were extraordinary AND she was exalted as the “Queen of R&B” before she died. This is the same Aaliyah that put Timbaland and Missy on. The same Aaliyah that is called a stylistic origin to today’s “alternative r&b.” The same Aaliyah that influenced Drake, J Cole, Adele, Solange, Ciara, etc. The same Aaliyah that was in #1 movies and taking soundtracks to platinum. The same Aaliyah that was the youngest artist performing on the Academy Awards. And it goes on and on and on.

You’s a faq and should just stfu.
she was NEVER recognized as the Queen of R&B :mjlol:

there was a shytty made for TV biopic called The Princess of R&B :umad:

as far as your racial appeal, that's a tried and true tactic around these parts when cats no longer have any valid points to argue :russell:

nobody ever said she was dog shyt, some folks are just elevating her to a status that is undeserved simply because she died. That happens with everybody :manny:

She gets introduced as the “sexy new Queen of R&B.” :ehh::sas2:

NOBODY has ever acted like Aaliyah was the GOAT. In fact, most people will call MJB the GOAT of that era and reasonably so. So I have no idea what the hell youre talking about.

What nikkas call Aaliyah is dope, beautiful, and her death was tragic. You disagree because you’re a faq.

Anybody remember every black school band playing “Are You That Somebody” back in school when that song dropped:mjlol:

Aaliyah was definitely NOT overrated. She might’ve not been the greatest singer but she was good at a lot of things, was beautiful, humble, made hits, was transitioning into movies, and everyone wanted to be around her. She had love in every hood... she was a genuine person.

Aaliyah was a triple threat. She could sing, dance and act. She was becoming quite the movie star before she died. That's why her death hit everybody hard. She was ascending into new territory. Her fan base was growing. People trying to downplay her impact or trying to call her a one hit wonder are delusional.

She couldn’t really sing and queen of the damned was going ruin her acting career

She wasn't a belter but she had what Alot of singers lack today. She had a pleasant timbre. Her singing made me think of wind chimes. Her role in and the way she played it in Queen of the damned inspired Cara Delevingnes portrayal of Enchantress in Suicide Squad. Queen of the damn is a cult classic.

she was beautiful and her death was tragic. That doesn't mean I have carte blanche to go overboard about reality

you found an award show where somebody called her the queen if r&b, fine :ehh:

but on the same token do you know how many people have been called the king of rap? I can call you the king of fakkits but that doesn't make it true, does it?

I disagree on all the post mortem cysing cuz I'm not a bytch nikka like you and see things for what they are.

I don't give enough of a fukk about her either way to continue to sit here and argue with you so I'll let you have the last word :hubie:

Aaliyah (and Mary J) were really the only female singers that made music for US.

I respect a lot of people and I’m a fan of a lot of people but we gotta keep it real. Aaliyah was one of two females repping for the hood.

I get cacs calling her overrated. But to see nikkas shyt on her is mind boggling. By default, they are fags to me.

The fascination is that she was young, well liked, was notably humble, and died at a critical career moment.

She was only 22 and was at the start of a major crossover. She was booked up until like 2007 with major movies, world tours, etc. Whether or not you feel she was overrated, she never got the opportunity to live out her career to its fullest. And even if she was "overrated", she will always be more relevant than whoever your favorite is.

So respect THE QUEEN, fakkit.

What movies she had lined up

Happy birthday queen

The reaching :mjlol:

Some of y’all m definitely on some goofy shyt with stuff like this :gucci:

What’s reaching? I’m referring to a person possibly dying in 2004 when their future potential was unknown. For the person alive we can see their failures. For the person who died their future potential is unknown.

For the record one thing was produced by rich harrison, who Beyoncé used to make crazy in love. Same style that some say was stolen from Amerie. That was a moment in time where we didn’t know what Amerie would be and what Beyoncé would become. Everybody is an expert in hindsight, not foresight.

bytch, Aaliyah was a critical component to 90s contemporary r&b.

Her and Ameriie were NOT the same. And I loveeeeeeeeee Ameriie. I’m from the DMV and I know people affiliated with her and Rich. But you are reaching for the fukkin stars.
