Exactly. Here's a good song that justifies that, even Donny woulda been proud of this cover of his version.

:ld:

:bryan: Nikka, she cracked on the high notes which she had to cut short and fill with the "whisper" thing she always does....
Don't get me wrong, she can sing ok but using this to prove your point ain't gone work.
This more then proves mine

all aalyiah did was follow how other r&b singers were already dressing. TLC set that off.

and r.kelly is prolly the one that dressed her.(no pedo).

ehh, she didnt die in her prime either.

that album she had just dropped was cold out there.

what new sound did aalyiah bring to r&b?

:dahell:

Aaliyah recreated r&b and without her, we wouldn't hear any of the music we hear today:mjlol:

prosper any where on earth
702 bit aalyiah how?

aalyiah had 2 albums poppin. ashanti had 3.

:comeon: look at the reactions by half the people in this thread. theres a legion of folks that assume that shes r&b royalty.

aaliyah didnt bring in no new type of r&b. timbaland was just continuing on with the swing mob sound that was already poppin for 3 years before that aalyiah album.

monica & brandy were bigger than aaliyah.

ciara & aalyiah both had 2 albums that were poppin. so how is one a flash-in-the-pan and not the other? the difference is aalyiah took a hiatus, as opposed to ciara who dropped her joints back-to-back.

whos basing it off of numbers? the girls loved ciara in her prime the same way the girls of a decade prior loved aaliyah. same chit/different toilet.

nah Gz, i never seen one chick who dress like ciara or wore their hair like hers

whats the same about that?

aaliyah made that tom girl look cute

TLC had only 2 albums so by CrazySexyCool
they moved on from that tom boy shyt

she just took it and made it better

also

ciara was known for those hermaphrodite rumors lol

and no again ciara had a movie that flopped

romeo must die was a classic movie wid Dmx and Jet Li

her 3rd album was kool but it was still better then ciara's

and lets not forget her features in between those so called "hiatus"

you wont see me tonight and being on timbalands "up jumps the boogie"

and other tracks....

y'all rewrite history man or forget shyt

Timbaland's production. To say that it wasn't different than anything else that was out there is flat out lying.

It wasn't a continuation because that sound wasn't poppin' on any level. Nothing on Diary of a Mad Band or The Show, The Afterparty, the Hotel sounded like what Timbaland was doing with Aaliyah. Not even Usher's '94 single sounded like it.

Aaliyah had 3 albums that were poppin'. Age Ain't Nothin' But A Number (1994), One In A Million (1996), and Aaliyah (2001).

Is this thread serious? Aaliyah got more hits. She got more sales, She got more impact. Ciara fell off basically by her 2nd album. Meanwhile Aaliyah 2nd album shaped RnB for the next 15 years after it. Ciara is nothing more than an offspring of Aaliyah at best. She's 5 albums deep with zero Classics. Aaliyah dropped 2 back to back Classics and her 3rd album was solid also. People love to leave out her soundtracks too, "Are You that Somebody" and "Try Again" are both better singles than anything Ciara every dropped. Also Missy played a role in Ciara's career after Aaliyah died. Sure they both don't have the most powerful voices but Aaliyah had "IT", you can't define it or describe it. Ciara doesn't have that same power. In no way am I saying Ciara didn't have hits. 2004-2006 Ciara was on fire, she dropped like 5 Top 5 singles. With that said she's never been or will be as popular as Aaliyah was. Nor has she made the impact on RnB the way Aaliyah did. No Ciara album is seeing any of Aaliyah's albums.

If Ciara had maximised her potential she would be Aaliyah I agree. She didn't and therefore not on her level. Talent wise, they're not dissimilar.

LOL @ the bolded.:laff:

the only one rewriting history in here is you. youre just making stuff up on the fly. and i asked you to explain how 702 supposedly bit aaliyah and you conveniently ignored me.

it doesnt matter when TLC moved on from the tom-boy look. THEYRE THE ONES THAT BLEW IT UP AND MADE IT FASHIONABLE. who cares if they moved on to something else nearly 3 years later? THATS WHAT TRENDSETTERS DO. they had mad females dressing like them(adults included) for more than 2 years before aaliyah even came out. and there werent any dam adults influenced by aaliyah, so dont even try it.

and aaliyah didnt do chit to change the style up like youre trying to claim. aaliyah came out looking like the lost member of Xscape. tons of acts came out riding that wave after TLC before aalyiah even hit the scene, and she came out dressing just like the rest of the pack. you buggin man.

Timbaland's production. To say that it wasn't different than anything else that was out there is flat out lying.

so aalyiah gets credit for timbaland's production now?

:laff:

not the same sound, but it followed the same foundation.

that 3rd aaliyah album didnt start poppin until she died. keep it real. she only had 2 albums poppin. just like ciara.

aaliyah fell off after 2 albums as well.

lol @ the bolded. LOL.
